St. Pete Times: "He drew in the demographic with the most to lose."
http://www.tampabay.com/news/politics/elections/article518616.ece

This is how you test a candidate's true gravitational pull. Go to a state where the delegates don't count, in a season when the air feels like wet rags, at noon on a Wednesday, in the heart of the workweek. Then see who shows up.

<snip>
Wayne Ferrell, a 53-year-old carpenter in Tampa, put his restaurant-remodeling job on hold so he could attend the rally. He gave his eight workers the day off; some of them rallied as well.

Gabryanna Johnson usually sells snow cones at a roadside stand. She skipped work Wednesday, as did her friend, T Collins, a massage therapist in St. Petersburg.

<snip>
Rosandrea McClendon, a funeral director in Tampa, spent a vacation day. Keith Fraley, a marketing specialist from Largo, spent a comp day. A nursing assistant spent a sick day. We will not use her name.

They surrounded the Forum, moving clockwise through the heat, rich and poor, big and small, black and white. Some had arrived before dawn.
