I have an honest question for Hillary supporters
Edited on Wed May-21-08 10:04 AM by senseandsensibility
How has Obama been sexist to her? Please give concrete examples, and I promise not to respond snarkily, even if I disagree with them.

I have seen many examples of the Hillary campaign using racial divide and conquer tactics. They are supported with links, direct quotes, and actual tape of the candidate herself.

I have seen no evidence of sexism from Obama. Just accusations.

1. Ferraro used the example of him dusting off his shoulder
post-ABC debate. She said she thought it was meant to be a sexist jab at HRC.

There's also "sweetie-gate," but BHO didn't say that to HRC.

Those are the only two I can think of.

3. The dusting off his shoulder had more to do with the moderators of the debate then Hillary.

4. I didn't see or even hear about this shoulder dusting thing
when it happened. That's weird, because I was following the ABC debate on DU and every little detail was mentioned, it seemed.

2. I don't agree with the sexist accusation.
The only sexist remarks about her that I've read or heard have been in the media, on this site, on signs at rallies, the Hillary Clinton nutcracker on ebay, a couple of Facebook sites, and some T-shirts. That's all.

But not from Barack Obama.

6. You won't get a response from them, but...
I've heard outrage that there was sexism around him that he benefitted from and didn't denounce it.

Now the latest focus is on the MSM (corporate media) and their long-standing hatred of Hillary.

I think they just want us to acknowledge that it exists, and we're not okay with it.

9. You asked for it.
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/02/is-obama-using.html

February 16, 2008 11:30 AM

Earlier this month, speaking at Tulane University, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, said this about the attacks coming his way from Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY:

"You challenge the status quo and suddenly the claws come out," Obama said.

snip

then yesterday Obama told reporters who had asked about Clinton's latest attack ad, "I understand that Senator Clinton, periodically when she's feeling down, launches attacks as a way of trying to boost her appeal."

snip

"Claws"…"feeling down"...I find it hard to envision Obama using the same language if he were facing, say, former Sen. John Edwards, D-NC.

You don't have to use the "C" or "B" word to be a sexist: all you have to do is minimize a woman for being a woman.

12. He once said that periodically, when HRC is down in the polls, the HRC campaign launches attacks.
This is sexist, because any use of a word that sounds like "period" is a reference to menstruation and is thus sexist.

what a bunch.

You must have known they would come on and smear her for you. You HAD to have known when you posted this that it would erupt into just another Clinton bashing thread. And you act as if your sitting back without responding makes you blameless for the hate orgy you encouraged here. Isn't there enough of this elsewhere for you to cull your answers from? Of course there is.

responses. Actually, they're pretty evenly divided. Hillary always has her defenders, and they've responded to this thread as I knew they would. But hey, if it makes you feel better to attack me, go for it.
