She stands up there and speaks very eloquently about party unity
and her supporters applaud. Yet almost half of them say that they would vote for McCain rather than Obama in a General election match up.

So what is going on here? Are mixed signals being sent? Are these fine speeches being delivered with a wink and a nudge? Are there code words that can only be understood in dog whistle fashion by bigots?

Are these people voting for Clinton only because they are afraid that a black man might become president?

I can't stand the sound of her voice so I only hear the clips that are played on the news shows. They sound fine and noble. Are these people reading something into her words or is she sending subliminable messages to them that she is a racist just like they are?

1. There has been some code used
like that major gaffe at the USA today... which was only a gaffe because it was said in the open

But having observed some of this ... there is code

As to that many people voting for McCain... I suspect most of them will do the right thing in November, even of some states

(read deep Apalachia) will still be red

3. I am a Hillary supporter and will never vote for john.
I think the reason some other Clinton supporters say things like they won't vote for Obama is just the high passion. I think in the end the party will unite.

10. Possibly, I know a lot of them are furious over some of the things that have
happened in this race.

And some of them simply cannot give their vote to someone they have issues with.

4. she can change some of her racist supporters
she can help some of her racist supporters realize that a black president doesn't have to be so scary.

5. HRC has earned the right to be up there speaking since 2/19
and Wisconsin HRC has more votes and more delegates and for the so called presumptive nominee to be losing states this late in the contest is a damn big clue that he cannot win in November.Hell, I am so inclined to say if bho is the nominee then we lose, unless he brings HRC as the vp. On the other hand if it is HRC then she will win against McCain.

6. Slice cheeze of almost any stripe thin enough and you can make it
look like stained glass, too, Benny.

Just keep slicing the facts thin enough, you'll come up with an argument sooner or later. Probably later.

8. Obama is a loser
that is why many will be voting for McCain. It has nothing to do with the color of his skin. You can keep up the racist bullshit all day long but it won't change the fact that Obambi is a loser on his own merit.

9. You know, it would be nice to see one person not ascribe evil intentions to even one thing that
woman does who is not already a supporter.

At least on the DU anyway.

13. I agree with the mixed signals
When Clinton was winning she was a woman. She said so herself. Now that she lost, the boys club gang's up on her.

15. It's about strong support versus weak support
The people going to her rallies care enough that they WILL support the nominee, by and large.

It's the weak supporters that will vote for McCain in the fall, and they're home drinking Coors and watching American Idol. :P

16. I think that's more or less what's going on.
She's not "fighting" for anything she mumbles about, that's for damn sure. The way I see it, she's just doing the bidding of wealthy backers who want her to destroy Obama. She's nothing but a RW stooge. The rest is window dressing for the gullible.

I think some of her supporters are trying to coerce the superdelegates into giving the nomination to her OR ELSE! These exit polls are about sending that message to superdelegates.

20. CNN pegged it 66% of Hillary voters in KY won't vote for Obama in the GE
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/05/21/may.20.analysis/index.html

Only one-third of Clinton's voters in the Bluegrass State said they would vote for Obama in a general election matchup against presumptive Republican nominee John McCain. Almost 80 percent of Clinton's voters said they would not be satisfied if Obama wins the Democratic nomination.

That really pisses me off. All of my life I've voted for Dems and against Republicans because we can't trust them with our government. Now 1/2 to 2/3 of Hillary voters won't vote for the candidate because they're feelings are hurt? WAKE THE FUCK UP! We can't let these robbing bastards back in power!

Edited on Wed May-21-08 04:15 AM by Aya Reiko
About the same number of KY Democrats who say they would vote McCain in '08 voted for Bush in '04.

In other words, they're Democrats in name only.

Fuck the Bush voters.
