Poll question: Should pledged delegates remain pledged through the first ballot.

Clinton PLEDGED Delegate just switched to Obama

Even as an Obama supporter this is troubling.

But then again Hillary said that pledged delegates were fair game.

The question is was he poached?

1. Pledged delegates should remain pledged thru the 1st ballot. Afterwards they can vote as they please

7. Superdelegates are bad enough (able to switch with the wind)
But for delegates who represent actual votes to do that is bad precedent.

3. It's partly Clinton campaign's fault for choosing him... he was pro Obama in December.
But yeah, for starters, pledged delegates should be bound.
Big picture is that there HAS to be a better way than all this delegate shit.

4. Agreed. They should be bound thru the first ballot
I don't like the idea of the pledged delegates switching around, even if it's in my candidate's favor.

6. What's the point of calling them "pledged" delegates if they can switch teams?
The only pledged delegates who should be switching teams would be the handful of Edwards delegates out there, since he's out of the running. (And they should vote for Obama, of course  )

The Obama delegates and the Hillary delegates were elected to represent the voters of their states, and they should vote accordingly.

11. As far as pledged delegates are concerned, if the voters who voted for you
change their sentiment, then you should be able to change yours with them. Perhaps many of the Clinton supporters in his county now prefer Obama, and his change in view reflects those of his voters. He should not betray the voters, but if popular sentiment changes then by all means he should change his view as well. I don't see why he's any different than any other elected official, he just only gets to cast one vote on one thing, but those voters who voted for him can persuade him if their views change. Hence, I feel that a delegate should have the freedom to change their vote.

15. poached? you left out 'released'.
Clinton and Edwards should release their pledged delegates and, in a strong show of unity, the 1st round should be a near unanimous vote for Obama.
