2. Fall in love with him? Sounds incredibly creepy.
Falling in love with a politician, a public servant. Forget it.

6. Autobiographies by their very nature are self-serving....
I didn't read Hillary's and I certainly wouldn't read his.

8. The Audacity of Hope isn't much of an autobiography. I'd recommend reading that over
Edited on Sat May-10-08 11:39 PM by PseudoIntellect
Dreams From My Father. The Hope book discusses a lot of issues, politics, opportunity, the roll values and faith play in the government, how liberals and conservatives are common people, etc.

9. "fall in love"
This is the problem, A certain type of support for Obama is dependent upon falling on love with him. Those that have not, for whatever reason, are just not going to. This has more to do with some personality styles or personal preferences than it does anything to do with politics, and there is a limit to how many people will fall in love with him. Those of us who have not fallen in love with him are struggling to see anything there; those who have fallen in love with him see everything there. That is why there is so much miscommunication and arguing here about him - people have either fallen in love with him or they have not, and since that is not rational, there is no way to have a rational political discussion about his candidacy.

I read the book. I'm not in love. Sorry.

The usual disclaimer - I am not a Clinton supporter, and I will work like a dog and vote for the nominee as I always have for the last 40 years.

19. Maybe that’s what the book was designed to do?

I don’t trust charismatic people in general, so, it wouldn’t work on me. I’d see right through every empty self serving word.

22. thank you, that is exactly the way I feel. some people think I am crazy,
but any charismatic person makes me run the other way. I distrust appeals to emotion rather than reason.
