We are seeing the destruction of the future of the GOP, D's voting
in record #'s; registrations up 150% in some places; even w/a divided party, we are trouncing the R's in #'s alone...and we haven't even begun tearing McCain apart on issues.

We are standing in the doorway to history, the demise of the neo-con/religious right aspect of the GOP. The R's, and especially McCain, have nothing, so all they will do is start crapfests, never bringing up something positive about their views, (like there are any).

We can finally stake this horror into it's coffin, but it will take work and healing on all of our parts. I think we should really start working on the healing part now, (actually, I thought we should have done this a LONG time ago, but passions run deep).

Extend a hand in friendship to those whom you've fought with over the past few months...it makes no difference what side you are on...it takes someone to make the first move. And to those who see a hand, take it, we will get through this, but we have to accept that even though some things don't work out like we'd have wished...if we work together, we can accomplish great things.

Thank you...

and the dumb and dumber Republican "permanent majority" is nearing its reality call.

38. GOP leaders warn of election DISASTER
Yes. It appears reality is setting in for the "dumb and dumber Republican" party.

from another thread: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=102&topic_id=3299049&mesg_id=3299049

GOP leaders warn of election disaster

Shellshocked House Republicans got warnings from leaders past and present Tuesday: Your party’s message isn’t good enough to prevent disaster in November, and neither is the NRCC’s money.

The double shot of bad news had one veteran Republican House member worrying aloud that the party’s electoral woes — brought into sharp focus by Woody Jenkins’ loss to Don Cazayoux in Louisiana on Saturday — have the House Republican Conference splitting apart in “everybody for himself” mode.

things are...I also know that DU is not the end-all in the political universe. Many here are little more than keyboard warriors and cyberspace potstirrers.

It takes hard work, compromise and dedication to get the job accomplished...all things that we can do, if we put the goal above ourselves.

Even the R's will thank us for what they will receive, they lost all hope under the neo-con/religious right mantra...they now know it was all smoke and mirrors...:hi:

Thankfully, I've not gotten into the foray here because I see good, bad and ugly in both of them. It's just time to take our country back.

24. i have two old, white, redneck, working-class parents in Texas...
and once Obama's got the nomination sewn up, i plan on working them hard. :)

my mom is already on the bubble...she WANTS to vote for Obama so bad, she can practically feel it!! after all, last time she was politically active was for Kennedy (well before i was born), but she's been staunch republican for decades. but she's hurting financially in Houston, she HATES the war, and i REALLY think i can persuade her to use her brain and not rely on her kneejerk prejudices. her big reservation is "but what if he's in a super-secret terrorist cell??" :eyes:

my dad is...another story. he's deep east-Texas born and bred, and his prejudices are profound. they still come out in mixed company and make me cringe.

my mom wanted Obama to win just b/c she hates Hillary so. my dad...is scared shitless of a black president :scared:

my husband is African-American, and both my parents absolutely ADORE him. but...they no longer see him as 'black' - he is a member of our family, and i seriously doubt that either of them even relate the historical aspect of what is happening to him.

i would like to think my parents are capable of seeing more than what they have been raised with, what they have harbored in their hearts.

we shall see

lol...that's more than i've ever shared on this board. tonight has made me kinda giddy :)

I've been feeling more and more hopeful for the future of our country. I admit I'm on the verge of emotional exhaustion from all the work and stress and bickering of the primary. Even still I can see the good that came out of it. We've reached and mobilized Democrats who've either never been active before or had long since become inactive. This is an amazing feat!

out here in Nebraska, I've seen youth motivated like never before. They realize they have to add to the changing atmosphere, or they will simply have no future.

I have actually heard moans up a the college when bush comes on for one of his absurd Rose Garden dalliances when students are trying to get some quick breakfast down. the disaster that he has brought upon this nation is felt in every corner, and people know that McCain might actually be worse!

We are in some interesting times...:)

loser?

Lots of people were saying that about Bush in '04.

There's a difference between enthusiasm and over-confidence.

I would be biting my nails whether it's Obama or Hillary in November.

And don't forget the Republican dirty tricks that factor in.

McCain is far, far from a sure-fire loser.

50. Just wait and see...
This is dependent upon D's uniting, but I believe that will happen, and the I's find him a fool as well...as do many, if not most R's.

He has NOTHING, he hasn't been covered. that's about it. I've watched what I can of him during this campaign, he looks and sounds like a doddering fool. He changes position every time he speaks, he doesn't make sense as he rambles on, and the #'s are no there...in terms of new D registrations state by state, he is going to get crushed. He won't last one debate.

Of course, if people sit home and don't vote, he can win...but he is going to lose...all the R's have are smear tactics, he has no policy, he has no vision, he has no new ideas, he has nothing.

People have been so adamant about our 2 candidates, most have not watched what is unfolding in the R camp...if we hold together, this election will be one of historic proportions.

47. Yes indeed! A toast to your post!
It not only makes no difference what side you are on, there IS no difference what side you are on. It's just the one side. OURS. The D's.

Envision a nice big blue "D" hanging on the Oval Office door!

And what I REALLY like is the man of the hour is the same guy who said - as president, he would review every decision the bushies made, to see if any crimes were committed.

That ALONE would get my vote, if I knew nothing else. That would be the deal-clincher. And it is!

I look forward to exorcising these demons, too! As a matter of fact, I'd have the White House fumigated after the bush vermin. And I'd invite some priests and other holy ones to come in and cast out the evil spirits. I wonder if laura has left cigarette stink in the Residence or First Lady's office suite? Something would have to be done about that, too.

51. We lost for various reasons, some of them having to do w/some
pretty questionable things...but if people actually work to get out the vote, if they actually get up and vote, if they do more than sit around and complain, we will break the chains that have been tossed around us...it is up to us, and we had better not let the country down.

Not since the Great Depression have people been so united against a party...this is truly a chance to make history...and I firmly believe that American people will stand up and make that change.
