question: Is the MSM covering the Kantor video?
I'm an Obama supporter, and I have not checked DU all day. Personally, I don't give a fuck about whether or not Kantor trashed people who lived in Indiana, or whether the video was doctored or not. Even if it makes the Clinton camp seem hypocritical , I couldn't care less (as an Obama supporter, I find lots of things about the Clinton campaign ridiculous and hypocritical, but this particular instance is not something that bothers me especially. I rented the War Room a couple of weeks ago, and I remember the comment being really flippant), especially since it is from 1992. My question is: Is the MSM covering this at all, or is this just one of the "outrages" that remains in the blogosphere? I checked here after being out all day, and there are many many posts about it. Whenever I turned on the tv today, the MSM was continuing with the obsession of Obama's "problems with white collar voters." And now Kantor is threatening to sue? Does anyone want to give me a breakdown of any developments of this "scandal" video, and whether or not it is relevant in the media outside the blogosphere? Thanks. Again, I just don't think that this particular thing is something to get worked up about, but that is just my opinion. I would rather focus on the gas tax holiday issue. Is the Kantor video something that the Obama campaign or the MSM is pushing?

3. Obama's team, thus far, has dodged a huge bullet.
If it IS covered, it won't be in a way favorable to the HOPE CHANGE BELIEVE team.

This KOS entry, though--including the comments--is pretty interesting--sums up the dynamic after all the flogging died down.

They played a BIG role, apparently, in proudly pushing the faked thing.

Not a proud moment.

5. How can this be connected to the Obama Campaign?
that is really stretching this...you have zero proof the Campaign was even involved.

6. I think the poster may be referring to Daily Kos,
not the Obama campaign. It that's true, whatever. Both Pro-Obama and Pro-Clinton Blogs push ridiculous stories all of the time that the average voter will never hear about.

Thanks for the information everyone.

7. Did you click on the LINK I provided and read the entire thing, to include the comments?
I didn't say CAMPAIGN, I said "team."

It's plain that the Kos people went out en masse to spread this piece of crap far and wide--to newspapers, media outlets, and they were "high fiving" one another at their great "success." One guy is crying that his efforts to flog the video might get Ed Schultz fired.

There was a concerted effort by fairly well organized Obama supporters, AT KOS, to shop this thing everywhere. It's documented ON the website, in the link I provided and elsewhere.

13. No, it's not a proud moment, for anyone who thinks his campaign is
stupid enough to try a reach around like this.

How easily was it discounted??

But that is the level She Herself strives to reach, so...

11. really? Who was covering it?
Edited on Fri May-02-08 05:37 PM by ErinBerin84
I guess I have heard Ed Shultz (though I don't really consider him MSM, unless he talks about it on tv) and possibly the Washington Post, anyone else? And I gather that it was put up on youtube and then retracted, and is now back up?

That's ok if no one really feels like giving details, especially after it looks like there are so many posts about it already here today. This was just my lazy way of trying to find out everything without reading all of the other threads. On the bright side for me, it did remind me that I still have The War Room and forgot to return it to Blockbuster. George S. is on my tv right now all suited up...instead of his stonewashed jean jacket outfits that he kept wearing in the War Room.

16. Newsweek's political blog covered it. This is what it said:
]A close listening reveals the truth. Buoyed by the Indiana exit poll, Kantor clearly says "those people are sh*tting," not "those people are sh*t"--meaning that they (i.e., the president's reelection team) are shaken, frightened, nervous. And far from following that (by all accounts accurate) analysis with a racial slur, Kantor then turns to Stephanopolous and asks, ""How would you like to be in the White House right now?" He's jabbing the Bush campaign, not ripping on Hoosiers. End of story.
