Edward's first solo campaign appearance
Edited on Wed Jul-14-04 02:36 PM by DU9598
I just returned from the steps of the Iowa statehouse where Sen. John Edwards addressed an overflow crowd of enthusiastic Iowans. It was a terrific turnout for a hot afternoon. And, Edwards put the heat on Bu*h and Chen*y from the start. It is amazing how he can remain positive and attack at the same time. He is so very skillful. He brought the crowd to a roar several times.

I got to shake his hand and I have some great pics (wish I knew how to post a pic on here for you all). A funny side note was a few R's who turned out to protest. They were trying to yell "Good hair, bad policies". Some young, college age Democrat guys stood across the street yelling "Bush - Good beer, bad President" They didn't stick around too long.

I love this ticket! Four more months!

Edit: spelling error

1. thanks for the report...
great to hear that it went well. Edwards loves Iowa.

I heard about the 'attempt" at the 'hair' thing by the GOP from the Edwards Blog. I know they were all ready to fight against it. Glad to know they left.

Just silly enough to show the Young (or Old) Republicans a mirror--except that this chant is true!

4. Was there really a rainbow?
I just read that right before Edwards took the stage that there was a rainbow that came out. Someone in the crowd yelled about it. The sky had a few clouds in it.

Just curious if that really happened and if you noticed it.

5. No
I cannot imagine there being a rainbow - would really be an act of God if there was. There were no showers and the temperature was above 90. Not really the setting for the appearance of rainbows.
