This is so sad...The Democratic Party is really imploding....
Edited on Fri May-02-08 12:57 AM by ruby slippers
I find this so sad. I am an Independent supporting Obama but I see the Democratic Party really starting (mildly put) to implode. The Obama supporters (myself included) will not vote for Hillary and the Hillary supporters are really hating on the Obama people. I am not certain that reconciliation can take place, especially if things don't turn around soon.

I really had hope that the Democrats would and could win this year, but I really wonder now.

This makes people just want to stay home or give up and that is one reason that some of us remain Independent. We don't have to answer to a party that isn't unified as in the Democrats case, or a party who supports blindly, as in the Republicans.

Oh, how I wish for a third party with some salt and common sense at times.....

You could have had it all, Democrats, but I fear you are losing some of us to indifference.....

For one, I support this website because I thought I could make a difference over the Republicans, but I am beginning to wonder if there really is any hope? Your party chairmen and delegates better wake up fast. Time is really running out!

... and will be discussed at the next meeting.

Next?

2. The party just looks like it's imploding here on GDP --
My family is all over the map but will support the Dem candidate in the fall.

This board looks as silly as it really is after my 40 mile bicycle ride today.

Get out, go for a walk, smooch with your honey. This place will drive you nuts after a while.

5. Yeah, I wish I could know who I would vote for if it isn't Obama...I
guess I won't really know until the time comes, huh?

Oh, and honey is snoring away....so this place is better for now....

But, it really does sound like everyone is really disjointed.

Did I mention that I also suffered a brain injury in an assault in the classroom? Got a nice settlement for it. That is why I am retired.

11. No one is 'independent' no one is ambivalent to the world around them
which what most 'independents do is Not Get involved, because of their
narcissistic humanity.......

Sure the two party stinks, but what you are seeing is getting the stench
of the corporate DLC being thrown out like the virus and disease that they are.

Multi- parties ....... I'm all for it, but not with this system we have now.

I doubt she will throw out the corporates....that is why I am having a hard time leaning Left. I think she is a wolf in sheep's clothing, much like Bush was to the Conservatives. I just don't trust her.....

12. "Never hurry, never worry"
Why is time running out? Whether we have a nominee or not, the convention date will not get here any sooner and neither will the election and neither will January 29th. In the real world, you cannot just click your heels together and suddenly find yourself in a Kansan paradise. No you've got to slog your way across miles and miles and miles of yellow brick road, through dangerous woods with surly apple trees and perhaps even the dangers of wild animals. Like lions. And tigers. And bears.

Oh my! This isn't a sprint. It's a marathon. To throw your hands up in despair or impatience in the middle of it is no way to win. Better to just keep putting one ruby slipper ahead of the other. Maybe a short term objective would help. Let's win Indiana!

18. You know, the one thing this thread has done is keep you all
civil for one short moment and not bashing each other. Maybe that is the key...Turn your bashing toward the Independents. See, that might work?

You are probably right. Maybe you can come together but I just know I am getting weary and I bet you a lot of other people are, too. It would be nice to unite against McCain, don't you think?

20. The place to make a difference is in your town
The best you can hope for on this web site is information to answer a question in person, or to connect to other people in your area. Otherwise, elections are won in the voting booth, not here.

I'm in one of the bluest areas of the country. I sure can't change the thinking of any red part of this country. The people in the red areas have the biggest jobs. That's where the most misinformation exists.

Northeast Florida. Bush Country for sure. He was here in town the day before 911. Now McCain is the only one who comes here. It is horrible.....but, I do have to admit, the economy here is great.

31. Voter suppression is the name of the game of late
What's really sad is to see voter suppression engaged in so
flagrantly by a party that once could pride itself on
fairness. Double bubble trouble in California, irregularities
in Ohio, broken machines in Pennsylvania. It would appear
that the only way Clinton can win some of her states is by the
nullifying efforts of her supporters on the ground as well as
in the press. "Knee-capping" is what one
congressman called it. I wonder how far ahead Obama would be
now if not for these machinations. Will he soar far ahead of
McCain when this despicable primary race is behind him?

32. I'm from Florida so supression and vote manipulation is old to me by now
But, I do hear that the Clinton's are not allowing any Obama supporters near their rallies. They are making them drop their banners and signs in piles before letting them near. It happened in St. Mary's, PA and I just heard again tonight on the news of someone else complaining somewhere else. That is a Dubya tactic. Do you know when Bush was campaiging in my town that someone put up a big bulletin board along the Interstate and they flew him into a different airport just so the motorcade didn't have to go past the ad. And, then when John Kerry came to town, we were met by Bush bullies outside the arena but when Kerry surrogates wanted to protest they were sent to "zones" one mile away from the venue.

I don't doubt that it will get that way with Clinton, too...

33. Being an independent who is only supporting Obama because of lack of choice...
I find the whole conflict between the Hillary and Obama supporters to be idiotic, at best. To be honest, both are centrist candidates, and with the exception of a few issues, they are practically clones of each other, policy wise. Neither is a liberal or progressive as we define them here on DU, so I'm honestly puzzled by the mindless cheerleading that goes on around here.
