Net gain: Obama 4, Clinton 0*

Obama to pick up three prominent Illinois supers — Mayor Daley, House Majority Leader Barbara Flynn Currie and Cook County Board President Todd Stroger — as the state finishes filling out its delegate slate.

Also nabs former DNC leader Joe Andrew after a defection from Clinton.

While Clinton is expected to get Connecticut AFL-CIO President John Olsen.

*Superdel Andrew leaves Clinton camp for Obama.

21. Wasn't Sen. Clinton born in Illinois - or didn't she grow up there
She talks about it all the time. I'm confused about which state was her "home" state.

4. Keep it coming, baby!
"Obama picks up 3 more Illinois superdelegates: Daley, Currie and Stroger.
WASHINGTON--When the Democratic Party of Illinois meet next week to finish filling out the delegate slate, Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) will pick up three more superdelegates, according to Steve Brown, a spokesman for state party chair Michael Madigan, who is also the speaker of the Illinois House.

"That's because the three appointments are all pledged to Obama: Mayor Daley --he shares strategist David Axelrod with Obama and brother Bill, the former Commerce Secetary is on the Obama team; Illinois House Majority Leader Barbara Flynn Currie (D-Chicago), a Hyde Parker who lives near the Obamas'; and Cook County Board President Todd Stroger."

6. You know, I'm not convinced the current Mayor Daley is the most
forward-looking Democrat around but on the other hand, he manages forward-looking constituencies in that city quite well.

I think he's made a damned smart choice this time, too.

Congrats to Senator Obama.

I wonder if they have to wait until May 5 to go in Obama's column
According to TheGreenPapers, the three Illinois add-ons are officially selected during the state convention, which isn't until Monday.

From their site on Illinois:

Monday 5 May 2008: State Convention

The remaining 31 National Convention delegates consist of

28 Unpledged PLEO delegates:
14 Democratic National Committee members.
13 Members of Congress (2 Senators and 11 Representatives).
1 Governor.
0 Distinguished Party Leaders.
3 Unpledged "add-on"s (selected during the State Convention).

In real math, that is. Don't know what 4*30 makes in Clinton math, sorry.

39. That's easy...
factored to account for "Clintonian Theory", 4*30 = I where I = inevitability and the real numbers are optional.

30. Everyone remember...
Hillary needs two supers for every one that Obama gets just to maintain the balance...

Obama is +4 today

Hillary is +1
and she is -1

after the 1:2 conversion...

Hillary needs 8 more super delegates today just to maintain the balance.

32. How far back is he now?
Edited on Thu May-01-08 09:06 AM by Kristi1696
How did yesterday end up? 19?

So that would be 16 with the IL folks added on.

And then 14 with Joe Andrew, considering he's a switcher.

14? Is that right? :wow:

ETA: Forgot that she got one. So I guess that makes it 15? Still impressive.

Under that scenario, Hillary wins the nomination, hands down.

Obama is 290 delegates away from the Presidency.
