McCain could never win in November without all our insipid, hateful infighting.
That's just a fact.

McCain's biggest allies in getting him elected are Democrats hell bent on tearing down other Democrats instead of building them up.

Democrats ought to be defending each other rather than trying to score political points that ultimately benefit McCain.

McCain is not some "safe" alternative -- McCain is war-crazy! He's still fighting Vietnam in his head, and he will never, ever leave Iraq. He will also never lift an imperial finger to help those in this country who need health care. In his mind, there is no crisis. If McCain gets elected, he will take this country down a rabbit-hole so deep, you will LONG for the Bush era.

Obama supporters ought to be defending Hillary; Hillary supporters ought to be defending Obama. We ought to be turning every media talking point or Republican insult right back against McCain. Instead all we do is tear down each other. Do we even know how to close ranks and fight the real enemy anymore?

McCain could never get elected if we weren't so determined to tear down our own candidates. That's just a fact.

Remember that next time you think about posting some clever insult you thought up. You might as well be writing a check to the Republican party. You might as well be taking a shot at someone's son or daughter in Iraq. You might as well be denying someone's health care coverage. Because that's all your clever insult will get us.

1. I agree.
If we don't put a stop to al the fighting in the party, it will simply play into the republicans hands, and help McCain in the GE by using everything being used to attack each other into play by way of TV ads. I also think that many who come here and "inflame" are not really democrats, but republicans trying to start more problems, and sadly it really seems to work!

2. When we find ourselves defending what should be basic progressive positions
against other Democrats, we're sunk.

That's what's been happening.

3. I wish this was only about policy. What we see these days is just about personal destruction.
I remember back when we were debating about whether our commitment to health care requires mandated health insurance required or not. At least that's a substantial fight. But now we're just repeating and embellishing Republican talking points against our own candidates. All McCain has to do is sit back and rub his hands with glee while we destroy our own candidates from the inside out.

4. I'm talking about the foundation of progressive thought
treating all people with dignity and respect. The golden rule, which applies to government and our personal interactions if we intend to practice what we preach. It's what Rev. Wright addressed last night, as well.

It's the antithesis of Social Darwinism.

It's sad that so many accept and subscribe to - even embrace - that type of social structure.

5. Now I gotcha. Totally on the same page with you.
Honestly, I've been surprised by how nasty and insulting some of us can be to each other and still call ourselves progressives.
