which would certainly help carry PA. in November?.....In my opinion, either Democrat MUST win PA to win the GE....Ohio is perhaps in play, but PA is certainly more for the taking, as Clinton or Obama will do well in Pittsburgh & Philadelphia, which is where most live.....Similarily, if Clinton is the nominee, & she took Rendell as VP choice, she'd lock up PA, probably winning by 15% or more.....

PA is too important, if that state is lost, then you'd have to pick up 21 electoral votes somewhere else to compensate for PA, PLUS still get ANOTHER 18 electoral votes to get to 270, nearly impossible to do...(Kerry had 252 electoral votes in 2004 & he won PA. so that's the math I was just doing.)......

Bottom line, we need PA and/or Ohio, but I think PA is the better chance, it hasn't gone red since HW Bush won it in 1988.....

3. Clark
I'm thinking, under the circumstances, that Wesley Clark might not mind being asked, though for now, at least, he is supporting HC.

21. Yeah, Clark
I've heard he's supporting Clinton, but it seems like he's staying above any nastiness. I'm pretty sure if Obama asked him, he'd step up for the good of the country.

Clark seems to be a weak campaigner and not very strong politically, but his credentials are impressive and I think Obama is a strong enough candidate in other ways that Clark's apparent lack of political savvy wouldn't matter.

6. Not bad.
But I think he'll win the "white blue-collar male" cohort in any case. I really do.

7. Gov. Rendell would be a better choice
If he must pick a Pennsylvanian, that is. Very well known and liked with a good record and an excellent campaign style.

In addition, Rendell is certainly ready there are no doubts about his abilities.

Casey adds nothing to either ticket although Obama needs him more.

9. Obama needs to appeal to liberal leaning women with a running mate
The Hillary voters. They will be down--possibly angry--after their candidate is beaten. Picking an anti-abortion running mate is not a good way to win them over.

10. No way. Casey doesn't bring the right experience to the ticket.
Casey may have a good shot at another position in the administration, but not veep.

11. No, Not Casey
First, I am reluctant to trust Casey who calls himself "Pro-Life"

Second, while Casey may provide a benefit in regional appeal, Obama needs to overcome his perceived weakness in foreign policy/military matters. He might do better with a Bob Graham (although he's the same age as McCain) or Sam Nunn (well, at least he's younger than McCain). Wesley Clark would definitely bring military credentials to the ticket and Bill Richardson foreign policy experience.

I love me some Bobby Casey (and my opinion of him skyrocketed the last month), but he isn't the guy for it.

Those two have a natural charisma together though, thats for sure!

20. He's pro-life, that's basically a disqualifier from the national ticket
I have no problem with pro-life Democrats, but the Democratic Party is unconditionally pro-choice and should remain that way.

32. You are thinking correctly.
One senator on a Presidential ticket is usually the kiss of death, but this is a rare year when both parties ended up with that.

Two senators on the ticket would be suicidal.

26. Our nominee will carry PA anyway
Unless someone fondles someone or something, PA is not going to be in play in the fall.

He needs someone who will appeal to independents, not Clinton supporters. As they have pointed out many times here on DU, Clinton supporters are loyal Democrats who won't take their ball and go home if their candidate isn't the nominee. They will already be in Obama's corner. They would never vote Republican, because they know that the supreme Court is at stake.

Someone from the south or the southwest would do to balance the ticket more geographically, which actually does still matter. I love Obama-Edwards or Obama-Richardson.
