"Osama Obama... Hummm.. Are they brothers?"
http://www.wspa.com/midatlantic/spa/news.apx.-content-articles-SPA-2008-04-20-0005.html

A sign is causing heated arguments outside of a church in Jonesville.

Pastor Roger Byrd of Jonesville Church of God put the sign up which reads "Obama Osama humm are they brothers?"

Pastor Byrd says the sign is not meant to be racial or political but rather to make people think. "His name is so close to Osama I have a feeling he might be Islamic therefore he doesn't recognize Christ," Pastor Byrd said.

Make sure you watch the video.

28. We need to say this to them the F***ING moment they start
I want to see it on TV. Someone saying "What the HELL does this B***S*** have to do with the issues?"

Watch them stumble over themselves and then move on to a real issue because they refuse too.

7. Pastor Roger Byrd of Jonesville Church of God!?!?!?!
Edited on Mon Apr-21-08 01:20 PM by crankychatter
That's it... I'm switching to Clinton

Did you know that the Church of God believes, if you don't speak in tongues the Holy Spirit is not in you... and if you don't have the Holy Spirit in you you cannot be "Saved."

therefore... if you DON'T SPEAK IN TONGUES YOU WILL GO TO HELL?

As a Pentecostal Agnostic, I reject that Doctrine.

I speak in tongues, but the professionals tell me it's Brain Damage, and I BELIEVE THEM.

I've heard this type of thing probably 50+ times.

Is it elitist to expect people to have common sense?

10. How do I now Pastor Byrd isn't really a chicken, out to trick the human race?
I mean, his name is a bit of a giveaway, isn't it?

seriously, what a scumbag. But I say 'bring it on' - just as has taken place in the Dem primary race, the GE will bring the xenophobes and racists out of the woodwork as in this example. And it's a lot easier to shine a light on them in the open.

Man, can't believe this guy is a pastor. I'd rather get wrongly yelled at by reverend Wright for a week than sit still for a minute of this guy's nonsense.

15. well, at least those wackos in Texas who waterboard infants to "break" them
are "christian." Good thing, too, or we might have to admit that this country spawns terrorists every bit as bad as anything anyone can imagine.

Oh, wait, Pastor Roger Byrd of Jonesville Church of God just called to say that no, they are an outlaw sect of a fringe denomination that much of the "christian" religion does not acknowledge.

I told him, "ok, you dumb motherfucker, how many KKK members "recognized" your mythical "christ" and what the fuck good did it do anyone?"

And then I said "Byrd sounds a lot like turd; does that make you a piece of shit?"

Therefore I think it must be home to a lot of Islamic people who don't recognize Christ.

What an asinine conclusion to make.

30. McCain .... Hussein ..... Hmmmm.....
Yes, we MUST stick to the issues and the issue here is QUALITY PUBLIC EDUCATION (clearly, what the Reverend was denied) and the separation of Church & State!! Let's not get too distracted by this.

This is probably the most attention this church has gotten since it was formed. From what I understand, this is a backwoods church that does not welcome people of color ... check out this post from http://theknightshift.blogspot.com/2008/04/south-carolina-churchs-sign-shows-un.html

I've been to this church and I don't mean to judge anyone but I had a strange feeling when I went there. I am a black male and christian, I felt like an outcast when I attended there. I tried everything I could not to feel that. I did not want to make it racial so I prayed about it. But the overtoned that everyone (well most) had really bothered me. My friend, a white man (not a member, he has friends), also felt it towards me. He kept asking me was I alright, he knew what I was feeling. But as he was introducing me to some of the people all I'd said, "God Bless You". A few days later he told me one of his friends asked him why did he bring me. He told me that he just asked that and did not make any racial remarks, but he knew what he meant. He said he was not sure if he should tell but felt a conviction he didnt. Also told me since then he rarely talks to this guy, only he speaks first.
