Why did it take 2 months to release Hillary's MoveOn slam?
Edited on Sat Apr-19-08 04:52 AM by tinrobot
The tape reported on by the Huffington Post was recorded right after Super Tuesday. That was over 2 months ago. Obviously, someone held on to that recording for quite a while. It's not coincidental that it came out right before the PA primary.

Since it was recorded in a room full of her supporters, does that mean one of her supporters held on to it and released it only now -- perhaps as a way to hurt her chances in Pennsylvania and hasten her exit from the race?

It could also be that the Obama campaign (or an Obama supporter) had the tape and held in reserve until they needed more ammo.

Just speculating, but it's interesting, regardless.

1. kinda like the "bitter" tape being held onto for almost a week?
It was only released when it was because Bill dredged up the Bosnia lie again and a diversion was needed. Otherwise, it would have been held back until closer to PA.

23. The bitter tape was actually released too soon.
Needed to distract from Penn and Columbia.

24. I always thought Rove was clumsy, yet successful too.
The real difference is the audience. Truth is that this stuff just works better with republicans than democrats. We aren't necessarily smarter, just more skeptical.

6. yes, I agree, this is purely calculated by the douchebag herself
and I called it correctly (but half-facetiously) yesterday:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=5570234&mesg_id=5571047

she's crazier than a shithouse rat--she'll soon be running on the "Republican Democrats for Clinton Party" ticket--it's sort of like the "Connecticut for Lieberman Party"--remember that?

3. My theory: former Clinton supporter turns against her
Maybe this person used to support Hillary, but has become disillusioned by the tenor of the campaign. And finally decided that Obama was the one to support, so released the tape.

4. Oh, what a travesty. Just because they can hold an Obama tape
until it's convenient to release, the other side isn't allowed? Bad enough it was secretly taped . . . just like the Obama tape. I suppose the non-Hillary side isn't allowed to do that either.

8. It seems like throwing theories around is a favorite pasttime these days, so let me try.
Do you think that people from the Republican camp might be getting into these events and leaking the info to hurt the Democratic candidates, thus increasing the chances for McCain? I see people pointing to Obama's campaign or Clinton's campaign when something like this happens, but these are classic RW tactics. If they can make it appear that one of our candidates is digging up dirt to use against another of our candidates, both of our candidates wind up looking grubby while they have kept their hands clean.

Just askin'.

9. The same reason Ferrarogate was held on to until just in time for the MS primary
Notice it did not come out before Ohio and Texas when playing the race card would not be convenient for St. Obama...

10. If there was voter intimidation as she claims
why didn't her campaign file a complaint with the election commission and make a big deal out of it in the media before umpteen more primaries and caucuses had passed?

I think I know why.

18. she WANTS it out--she wants it known she doesn't associate with MoveOn riffraff
--this is another one of her schemes, it's a message to the corporate string-pullers.

JMHO--see FrenchieCat's post above--this is Hillary's "Sister Souljah moment"

Her credibilty is already pretty rocky. So, it could be used both ways I guess..

20. People will see this as a lie. She said one thing about MoveOn a year ago and another thing recently
This is typical of her. Say one thing do another. I loss count of how many times I saw her do this.

I don't see anything else in this but a slam one day and a praise another day. For the ones who see more into this than I am looking - then excuse me, because I'm not looking at anything else but the surface of this - I feel it's too late in the race to be trying to act like she is distancing herself from MoveOn.

21. I think she's crazy enough to think she can win over "moderates" by portraying MoveOn as "radicals"
with whom she does not associate -- but any way you look at it, it's not going to help her any more than any of the other BS she's pulled. I think the desire for change, from old-style Washington insider politics, and the movement for Obama have reached critical mass. I think even "moderates" can see the difference between her deviousness and gutter politics and Obama's transparency and positive campaigning.
