14. He defended her... I was very happy.
He didn't sink to the level of Hillary and the Republicans. Obama knows that no matter what, you shouldn't attack another Democrat over silly "gaffes" (even though I think sniper fire was more than a gaffe... it was a lie). Yes, Obama could have taken her down, but I am very happy that he didn't. Hillary could learn from him.

19. He was dignified and presidential ... I think undecided SDs will approve
He didn't need to wrestle her in a debate -- might have made him look
like a scrappy kid. Instead, he let her throw the mud as she dug herself
into a hole.

7. Im really wondering who got to Todd
He used to be very impartial (if not slightly leaning towards Obama), but today he was right inline with the pro-Clinton BS.

Im wondering if he wasnt given a talking to by the network.

17. I noticed Todd's behavior as well.
I couldn't understand how he had been so impartial before and after last night, really came off so negative. I heard him say something about both Dem candidates being bad. Couldn't figure that out.

that's why her negatives are rising. Soon enough this will be over with and Obama will be our nominee.

10. And Mathews asked if ABC News was "Washington" ?
As in the "Washington" that Obama spoke of today? He seemed to pooh-pooh the idea. But, yes, ABC NEws and all the news in Washington is elitist and in a bubble.

21. They are the people that feed off the ridiculous crap so, yes, Obama is talking
about them when he says "Washington" - the media, political consultants and many of the politicians.

They don't like being called out for focusing on crap. They make a living based on the media frenzy surrounding each irrelevant gaffe.

Obama is attacking them too and they, of course, don't like it.

13. They wanted a fight and didn't get one. Today, all they really have
to talk about is how crappy ABC was, and they don't like to really criticize each other.

If it's Obama and McCain in the GE, they see their tabloid schtick drying up.

40. Both points ...
Two sweet spots here ...

1) They get all defensive about possible criticism of their own ... They are SO freakin in the bubble ...
2) They WANT this to be competitive to keep the show going for ratings ...

Just MIND boggling, it truly just showed that they want to throw blood on these two and have them rip each other apart ...

34. You never went to a zoo and saw the monkeys masturbating??
What a sheltered childhood.

Seriously, if you ever lived near the Bronx Zoo in the Fifties or Sixties, the monkeys there were evil. But since I haven't gone since 1968, I still relate the monkeys to Tweety.

29. Candidates seem to feel that they must be respectful of the media
Yet I'm not sure. Suppose Obama had said of the lapel pin question: That's not relevant, let's move on - would it have had a good effect? I wonder if the voters might not actually respond very positively if he'd just said, calmly, of course, "That's a stupid and irrelevant question."

It is weird that even the President does not feel like he can criticize the reporters/media. It would show leadership, perhaps.
