Yesterday, I posed a
challenge to my fellow DUers to post something about John McCain every time they posted something about the democratic candidate they aren't currently supporting.
The response was mixed and it got only 9 recommendations.
I hop on today and see that nothing has really changed. We're still getting "that other candidate sucks" posts, but nothing about the GOP.
I know this is the primaries, but is this election not important?
Long before that I started a conversation asking people to say what they believed the election was
about and once again, it was not received very well, nor did the conversation go beyond "the other candidate sucks" posts.
What I'm going to try to do here is ask one question about John McCain in the hopes we can start thinking about how wrong he is for our country's future.
Where does he stand on issues of real importance to Americans?
Foreign Policy?
Education?
Healthcare?
Restoring Habeas Corpus?
National Infrastructure (roads, bridges, etc)?
Food Safety?
Voting Rights?
Am I missing anything?
I think it's important that we start thinking about this now, while we are still choosing our candidate.
After all,
1. we are liberals; we can do more than one thing at a time
2. who ever we choose to be the democratic nominee is going to have to beat him.
There is no reason we should wait until September/October to do this.
