A lot of pople are in this feel-good caught-up-in-the-moment history making thing with Obama.

The reality is, though, once folks actually exhale, take a breath, and realize the magnitude of it all....they will realize they just don't trust Obama. Result: A McCain Presidency.

Hillary is our only choice IF WE WANT TO WIN.

Edited on Fri Mar-28-08 10:54 AM by Drifter
My parents have NEVER voted for a Democrat. NEVER EVER.

They like Obama, and would vote for him. I asked them if they would they would vote for Hillary if she gets the nod. They said they would NEVER vote for Hillary.

Half the country will not vote for Hillary, simply because her name is Clinton.
I do not believe Obama has that against him.

Cheers

13. If I were one of those 527's I would make me an ad that would
show obama saying that he never attended a sermon where wright spoke any kind of words which could be perceived as hateful, biggoted or racist. Then from his "race" speech of Tuesday last showing him saying, "have I ever been in a sermon where words like this have been spoken? Yes". The BIG LIE!

do you think the rnc and the gop have something like this already planned IF obama gets the nomination?

Are you able to allow yourself to imagine Clinton as the nominee, and the attacks by the 527's she'll have to endure?

For example... her regaling crowds with the Bosnia Whopper, on split-screen with photos of John McCain enduring unspeakable horrors at the Hanoi Hilton? Oh, and that's just for starters. Please, do try to remember that the GOP has been working oppo on Hillary Clinton for at least the last several years in preparation for her "inevitable" nomination.

Bush's ratings are down below 25% and this guy chooses to associate himself completely with him. Foolish and dangerous.

18. OR, maybe your feeling is contradicted by latest polls and the opposite is true:
Clinton Struggling With Her Likability Problem
By Bruce Drake, CQ Staff

...

But one race Obama is winning by the numbers is the favorability race whether the measure is positive/negative reactions to the two, or traits that voters like or dislike about each.

Here’s a collection of findings on this score from a range of polls:

Obama bests Clinton among Democratic voters by margins of 15 percent to 20 percent on the traits of being “down to earth,” “inspiring” and “honest,” according to Pew. More Democrats think Clinton is “phony” and “hard to like” than they do about Obama.

<snip>

• Again Pew: Demonstrating Obama’s appeal beyond just Democrats, 70 percent of all voters say they find him inspiring, 67 percent say he is down-to-earth, and 65 percent say he is honest. More than half of Republicans agreed on the first two traits and 46 percent agreed on honesty. The figures for all voters were roughly the same as the figures for independents.

<snip>

• In a USA Today/Gallup poll conducted March 14-16, forty-four percent of those surveyed said they considered Clinton honest and trustworthy while 53 percent did not. By contrast, McCain was considered honest and trustworthy by a 67 percent to 27 percent margin, and Obama was close at 63 percent to 29 percent.

<snip>

28. I agree with you.
This Obama mania reminds me of the build up to war. (No, I am not equating evil war to a decent man like Obama so don't get your little feathers in a snit over that.) I am saying that the media took up the gauntlet and talked war war war 24/7 in the buildup to the war. The people responded and there were a high percentage pro war at the time. The media has, for whatever reason, chosen Obama to be the Democratic nominee and the people are abuzz with anticipation of a miracle. Then the fickle media will turn on Obama and we might get President McCain.

35. I love it when
People begin an argument by stating their opinion but then conclude the argument with a factual statement as if it's somehow supported by the sheer "weight" of their opinion premise. The fact is that it's merely your opinion that people don't trust Obama - an opinion belied by the polls, I might add. And it's further merely your opinion that Hillary would win the general, the latter of which is only buttressed by your preceding opinion.

What's worse, though, is that you call Obama's candidacy a "feel-good caught-up-in-the-moment history making thing" which essentially suggests that Hillary's campaign is that of a "traditional" variety. Problem, of course, is that she herself has acknowledged her candidacy is hardly traditional and is equally as "history making" as Obama's, so that suggests that if roles were reversed she'd then be open to that same criticism.

73. I know I lost all trust for Obama
when I found he had been hiding Wright intentionally since the beginning of his campaign, lying about how 'controversial' he thought his preacher is.

I have no reason to believe anything he says about his views differing from Wright.

my mom, sister and I all dropped him.

77. Hillary Clinton is unelectable.
Hillary Clinton has always been unelectable. Obama may be a risky candidate, but nominating Hillary Clinton is an absolute, iron-clad, 1,000,000,000% certain path to a staggering, humiliating defeat of McGovern/Mondale proportions. The entire Republican party loathes her, and she will not get a single crossover vote. You need those to win a national election. Independents hate her. You need those to win an election too. Ergo, she will lose.

I am constantly amazed at how anyone who hasn't been in a coma for the last 16 years can write off the well-documented and widespread hatred and loathing that Hillary Clinton inspires in half the electorate. Whole cottage industries have been established based on Hillary-bashing, and they never fail to make a healthy profit. PEOPLE DON'T LIKE HER. She is to half the electorate what Tom DeLay is to us.

Why is this news to people?

78. Amazing that I am a bad person for supporting Hillary.....
some even say I am a GOPer and, hold on, a Rush listener. Words cannot do justice to how stunning that is. No words.

Don't think Obama can win....will vote for him if he is our nominee.....hope Hillary wins.

81. I didn't say you were a bad person. I've never met you.
What I did say is that Hillary Clinton is unelectable. Sure, it's just my opinion, but I believe I have history on my side.

86. Disconnected from reality, are we?

"As expected, one of the two major Democratic candidates saw a downturn in the latest NBC/WSJ poll, but it's not the candidate that you think. Hillary Clinton is sporting the lowest personal ratings of the campaign. Moreover, her 37 percent positive rating is the lowest the NBC/WSJ poll has recorded since March 2001, two months after she was elected to the U.S. Senate from New York.

89. What a joke. Hillary has zero chance to win the general.
She has never had a chance to win it. Never. People hate Hillary with a passion usually reserved for cop-killers, even people in our own party. Again, Hillary would bring out the haters to vote against her, the people that dislike McCain and would have been happy to stay home will come out in force. The Independents will go McCain over her and all those new Democratic voters stay home instead. Obama is hated by no one except racists and Hillary super supporters and people are ready for something new. Both Clinton and McCain represent the old way and Obama is the future. We really should have nominated Edwards, he would have won easily, but as it is Obama is our only chance to win in November. It's no guarantee by any means but he has a good chance whereas Hillary has no chance.

90. But they already don't trust Hillary
You are basing this supposed lack of trust on what exactly? I would use trust as a determination, because Hillary has much more serious trust issues. The reality is that when people see how vacuous McCain's campaign is, they will not vote for him.
