Barnacle says Obamas biggest problem is that hes a "liberal"...
That it will scare alot of middle class demcrats? Come again? Why is liberal such a dirty word? Why do those in the media accuse Obama of being a "liberal" and make it sound as if hes a murderer when they say it? I don't see any news stories asking if McCain is "too conservative"? WTH?

1. Because the Repukes have successfully made it a bad word
and they accuse him of being a liberal because of the National Journal's rankings.

15. Dems should counter ...
... by saying conservative is a bad word. Very easy to prove if they would just try it. :)

2. He did not say that; he said the term 'liberal' has been made into
a 4-letter word by the likes of Limbaugh, and that Obama would have to deal with it. He didn't say Obama being liberal is a problem.

7. he did say that. Joe asked him what the biggest problem would be if Obama is the nominee
and Barnacle said his biggest problem would be that the rightwing will paint him as a liberal. And that middle class voters are scared of big govt.

8. I heard Barnacle; yes, the "R/W" will paint him as a liberal, like I
said. Barnacle himself didn't say it was a problem.

5. They've tarnished the label
with the "tax & spend" association when in essence, that is what most governments do.

Whenever I hear "tax & spend," I say "What. . .do you honestly prefer loot & waste. . .?"

6. A label for republicans is "Borrow and Spend"
... and leave it up to someone else to pay it back.

11. I don't think these bozos have any intention of it ever being paid back.
When you think of the all the dough that just went "poof" in Iraq and the total lack of oversight and accountability, I really don't think they care as long as they've gotten their profits from their no bid wonder contracts.

9. Barnacle is and always has been an arse
Talks to hear himself speak. At one point he was a half way decent newspaper guy. But only half-decent. I couldn't care less what he thinks.

Liberal is only a dirty words because "they" want to make it so.

I am a proud Liberal!

One reason why the word "liberal" has become a dirty word is because people like Pastor Wright lie about what liberalism has to offer...

promises or veiled hate-filled preachments of the so-called

12. Barnacle is a fabricator.
But nobody could have anticipated that the Democratic candidate for president would be tarred with the dreaded 'librul' label. I am shocked.

13. George Bush has spent more in his administration than Bill Clinton ever did-so much for labels
I am a liberal. I am a progressive. However, I also believe in a little thing called a balanced budget. Supply-siders, Rethugs, Neocons. They all contributed to the current debt and deficit getting out of control. To say that Dems are tax and spenders, well Reuthugs are tax cut and spenders. At least Dems try to responsibly pay for programs. Rethugs like Bush simply pass big programs and spend on wars but don't even try to control the spending. What a crock. I could at least respect the old Republicans that used to want to cut spending if they gave tax cuts. Bush didn't even try. Bill Clinton, a moderate Democrat, at least balanced the budget and gave us a surplus.

14. Similarly, Barnacle's biggest problem is that
he's a blithering gasbag capable of only the most vapid observations and shopworn labels.
