Poll question: Obama's VP? Who Helps His Ticket Most? Barbara Boxer or Hillary Clinton?
I've already shared my feeling and thoughts that Senator Boxer brings far more to Obama's ticket this fall than Hillary would.

But what say you?

Who would be the biggest asset to Obama's campaign as VP?

27. neither.Barbara, who I adore, would be targeted as a
west coast librul who loves gays --california-- and hillary is too full of holes from this shit fest. They would need someone who could pull a region we don't already have in the bag. we have the west coast.

Women who would balance his ticket Mary Landreau or Blanch Lincoln would be decent. Napalatano of Arizona would be OK. Patricia Schroder would be a good choice.

To bolster where Mr Obama may have some implied or believed weakness is Mr Richardson.

Speaking completely from a politics choice for the strength and success of the party.

21. The economy not the Occupation
He needs someone to help him with pushing through all sorts of changes dealing with the nation's economy. The Iraq occupation is pretty much agreed will wind down and diplomacy will intensify. The economy is really going to need more work and finesse then anytime since the Great Depression. Edwards focus on poverty and anti-corporatism would be a great asset.

24. I wonder if it would be Tacky if He went for a Woman
because everyone will think he did simply because Hillary was one and to ease her constituents...
I personally thikn he should go for Edwards even though when you look at the polls the dude just doesn't have much power in draw so i can see where one could come from with a woman VP (2-for-1 history ticket).

25. That would end up being just a dog and pony show.
To chose a female VP just for the sake of it being a female. It didn't work last time, and by the way that ended up with the single worst showing of the Democratic party ever.

That ticket carried 1 state.

26. Here's my earlier arguments for Boxer on the ticket.
I agree with you, by the way, that "To chose a female VP just for the sake of it being a female" would be foolish.

That's hardly my rationale for him picking her. Here's a few reasons: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=132&topic_id=5063785

40. Kathleen Sibelius
D-Governor of Kansas. Lots of Independent and Red State appeal.

Looking for a white guy? How about Tom Vilsack former governor of Iowa?

My thinking in both cases is that we have the coasts sewn up. California is not going for McCain and neither is Massachusetts. Having a "Heartland" ticket, particularly a ticket from states that have a history of being bellweathers, could be useful.

Just my $0.02
