Lieberman corrects McCain on Sunni and Shia and then goofs
when he called Purim the "Jewish version of Halloween".....

Get real, Joe! Or, are you senile, too....

In any event, we need a crash course in cultural awareness, especially you on your own culture, if you are the one who wants to answer the phone at 3 am when McCain sleeps through the rings....

2. meh..
Lieberman was trying to quickly explain to McCain what Purim was in terms he (McCain) could understand. It is no different than those who describe Chanukkah as "Jewish Christmas." Neither holiday is like the one they are compared to, it is just something to help those unfamiliar with the Jewish holidays make an easier connection. However, I don't think it was wise of Lieberman to do this because it just creates confusion.

3. Yeah, I agree....he probably WAS trying to use "simple terms"....for a
"simple man"....but it seems like he is trying to "mentor him" in everything lately and it is very telling....

And, on a more personal note, I am still trying to learn all the holidays as my Catholic daughter married a Jewish dreamguy and my grandson is kinda like Obama now.....he is "multicultural".....and we love it....

And, all you Freepers can put a checkmark next to my name now. I can handle it....

4. Well, simple is as simple does.
I am not surprised by the recent events considering Lieberman is a major hawk and so is McCain.

Good luck learning the Jewish holidays. I swear I think we have more holidays than all other religions combined! I still don't get them all correct.

"And, all you Freepers can put a checkmark next to my name now. I can handle it...." Huh? I wouldn't worry what 'freepers' have to say, chances are they all have some "mixed" blood somewhere along the way. Then again, that is not uncommon since we are all one race...human.

6. the Freeper comment was because
once I posted there in 2004 and made my statement when there was a lot of Jewish hatemongering going and and they began to personally attack me with some mega threats so now I just tell them upfront.

Unfortunately, there is still a big "cultural" divide in that area, too, and I am Obama's grandmother and fear those men (the Freepers), too, when I walk down the Internet..... :hide: Someday we will have dialogue.....

11. yes, thanks, that is a very good site and one
I am forwarding on to my daughter.

BTW, I caught the comment near the end where they compared it to "Mardi Gras". Now, if McCain had said that.....oh well. I guess KO was just playing on McCain's inadequacies. But, I'm glad he did because it caught my attention and made me think about the holiday....

I guess we all still need to learn a lot about one another, huh?

8. Well.. in a way, Joe's right.
I just got back from a Megillah reading, and there were people dressed up - even a well-known Jewish newspaper editor dressed up as Santa Claus this year (I love Rabbi Goldberg - he's always thinking up weird costumes to entertain us - his son is a great friend of mine)

A pimp, a transvetite, a football baby, Mexican bandito, a beer, and a fireman - just a few....

So it is a Jewish version of Halloween. :)

12. of course....
anytime that Bush and company discuss anything Jewish, I cringe. I just remember that Dubya's grandfather, Prescott, was involved during the Holocaust with...well, read the following and you decide....it is from the Guardian and not a tin-foil basement.....
