Road to the Whitehouse (David Gregory): Anyone watch this? If so...
How was it? I've tuned in for the last 10 minutes or so, and all it appears to me is the same old same old, but with REALLY bad graphics in the background.

The whole "play with our panel" seems like it might have potential, but the questions at least I heard were pretty odd.

Was the whole hour like this or did I miss something really cool?

And BTW, at least from the 10 minutes I've seen, I still would have REALLY preferred a Rachael Maddow show instead...

1. It's garbage
I don't know who greenlit this idea but it's pathetic.

4. Say it aint so - a bad greenlighting decision by MSNBC????
I'm still wondering why everything after 10:00 and all weekend long has become the criminal channel. Who the frick watches those shows?

2. These shows aren't interesting unless the host can be himself/herself.
Gregory is a journalist and has to appear as though he has no opinion on anything or anyone.

BOR and KO get ratings on their cable shows because they pontificate.

3. I agree Rachel would have been better. but it is Scarborough that ruins the show
David is OK, kinda boring but he does have cred.

5. I would be OK if this was a boring but credible news show...
that at least would be different. But I'm struggling to to understand what the difference is here, other than really bad background graphics. Its the same group of folk on for all the rest of their time slots. Imagine if a network did this for their evening line-up - just keep the same cast of folk together for 4 hours in a row doing almost the same show.

If Gregory, who does have some cred, did almost a Bob Schaeffer type real news show, I'd be OK with this. It wouldn't be as interesting as a Rachael Maddow show, but at least it would be different...

8. She went ballistic on the double standard
giving religious righties who say outrageous things & support political candidates a pass v. the treatement Rev. Wright got this weekend.

17. He has an unbecoming habit of trying to monopolize the conversation,
whether it's his show or someone else's. He did the same thing on Bill Maher's show.

6. Prediction: This show will only run through November, at which point
Edited on Mon Mar-17-08 06:07 PM by LSparkle
The slot goes to Rachel. Gregory isn't about to stop being a reporter entirely
(he's probably just hanging around until he can take over MTP from Tiny Timmeh).

7. I heard him call Russert, " boss " yesterday
didn't really understand what that was all about. Is Russert the head of a division or department over there ??

13. He's head of the political division at NBC News,
Edited on Mon Mar-17-08 06:46 PM by LSparkle
which is where Gregory continues to work. This "Road to the White House" gig is
only because they canned Tucker and don't know what to fill the time with. I really
think Rachel is headed for her own show, though.

12. I was at first thrilled Pat Buchanan was not on, then lo and behold
there was the Scar. I won't watch him in the a.m. so now if he's a regular I won't watch David either. Parts of it were okay, like when Gene and Rachel held serious productive dialogue..

15. Joe the hothead ruined it for me. His heavily made up red face is distracting
along with his pathetic views.
