Looks like another one to go to the Republicans.
Oh I know, I'm a racist gay Hillary person. Not that I was completely enamored of her to begin with, but by default, she is the one I would like to see as President. Of course this is not going to happen as Mr. Obama of the "Church of just pew sitting" will get the nomination. At this point in the game I really do not care, and will provde my useless vote to Obama in his fight to be the President against a old tired man.

All you cool cats, and Obama supporters, I understand your deep inner desire to believe in something, anything that does not reek of the past evils of the generations before you, and your threats to go all 1968 on our asses, comical and bizzare as that sounds; manning the lines for a person like Obama, and the war is not even mentioned. But those are those icky stupid things of the past. You will be manning the front lines for Obama and his "ideas", his "change", his new cool super improved way of having our bright shiny future.

Hillary is no prize, but Obama is not one either, but again, this is a dissapointment you will have to live for yourself. The war will not end. The problems that just economically face us will implode in a way that when we look back in retrospect, you will have a small smile, because McCain will preside over the worst four years that will be a horror show. The downside will be a draft, more war, economic ruin, our deescent into irrelevance as China's tool. Then you can really go 1968 on our asses in 2012 when we have a pro war candidate, and a no war candidate.

Our future is now in the hands of one person, and that is Obama. I do not like him for many reasons, but you do have my vote. The problem is that all you Obama supporters either swing wildly to underestimating, or overestimating the people that will vote that do not log in here and that are just the average people doing what we all do; trying to survive one day at a time. You are the biggest group of wanting the cake and eating it too that has ever existing and the hypocrisy is on such a scale as it is breathtaking. Your guy Obama better get in front of this "non-issue" with a better explaination than was yanked out of his ass today. The arguments of a person writing a book and using the very same pastor as his inspiration, and having it dismissed by you collectively with the bizzare rational put up here is just freaking nuts, and dangerous. Yes, dangerous, because you want the front runner position, you claim the front runner position, so now act the front runner position, and get a handle on this, as this is an election loser.

The average non-DUer does not understand the finer points being sliced with a microscope on his pastor, what his mentor said, what it really means, what fucking anything. They see a very bad example of a pastor gone wild. These are the people that are voting, and there are more of them then us, iggies included,(I really love that, it's kitteny cute), and non-Iggies.

So what's it going to be? The ball is in the court of the guy that has people loading their iPods with Vietnam Era rock, so they can fight for his "change" if they are denied at the convention. The least you can do is fess up to some of this shit that need to be taken care of, even if he was asleep in the pew and not listening.

51. All over the media?
I've been watching CNN and MSNBC all morning and in three hours it was mentioned, in passing, once on MSNBC and they tied it to a Hillary Clinton story about Mark Penn.

It isn't "all over the media". The Ferraro comment was "all over the media". This is just a blip on the screen.

As you said, these Obamites think that everything before then does not matter and/or is evil. :eyes:
These young kids are going to work for someone who only speaks of himself. All of them are shallow and superficial.
I worked my ass off for Kerry in 2004 and he left us hanging. He was AWOl when the swiftboaters came after him in August (he was too busy windsurfing). Then come to find out he had 15 million left over after November. :wtf:
HRC was not my first choice overall (Wes Clark was) but she is my first choice now. At least she's a proven fighter. I will stay with her until the end.
No chance in hell that Obama gets my vote. At this time, I would not vote for Chris Dodd when he is up for re-election in 2010. He was the one who really started the attacks on HRC at the last Iowa debate when he said "that we cannot nominate someone who half the country won't vote for". That is a right wing talking point and it just shows that he is just a politician and nothing else. So now I have tow asshole's for Senators. Maybe I can get a half-way decent congressperson this fall (Chris Shays can be ousted and I will make sure of it).

42. This myth that you have to actively support the nominee to be here is not true
you cannot campaign AGAINST the nominee, but you do not have to vote for them or campaign for them. Skinner himself said that if you are asked, or if you can express it in a way that does not request others to go against the Dem nominee, you can even profess publicly that you are NOT voting for the nominee. There will be Hillary supporters on this board after the primaries end most will still vote for Obama and most wont. Constructive criticism WILL, however, be allowed. Like it or not.

22. I see you as an ageist guy. I'm in my 50's, and you apparently have no clue as to why I support
Obama over Hill.

But that's OK. I haven't the foggiest notion why you would support Hill over Obama, if as you said, she wasn't going to lose. I would have voted for her, but about as enthusiastically as you will vote for Obama.

I agree in part with your analysis of the current hubbub, except you forgot to mention that it also puts to rest the "Obama is a muslim" line of attack.

Also, with all the brouhaha, Obama will be asked onto a billion shows to explain the so called sins of his pastor, and that will give him the opportunity to point out that the UCC is a mainstream multi million member denomination that has a large number of very well known and respected Americans as members.

It will give him a golden opportunity to talk about just how mainstream he and his church really is.

And it won't be on DU, but on the networks.

I think Obama is the kind of person who will take the lemons and make some lemonade. His candidacy so far has done pretty well at that.

45. Just as there are sexists of all genders and there are racists of all races, so to
are there ageists of all ages.

So you don't have to be a certain age to be an ageist.

All it requires is that you make assumptions about someone else based on their age, or that you attribute other qualities of humans to age based factors.

For instance, I see a lot of people assume that an older adult is somehow more responsible than a younger adult. However, in my life I have seen very responsible young adults and very irresponsible older adults, and visa-versa.

I don't get your SNL reference, I do know that SNL isn't 50 years old though.

We'll need every vote in the fall. McCain will be a train wreck for this country, following Bush's policies right off the cliff.
Obama plus a Democratic Congress will at least have a chance of undoing some of the catastrophic damage Bush has done to this country.
You see no hope, but that's just the negativity inherent in seeing your first choice go down - I was that way when Edwards pulled out.

31. I fess up he has shit he needs to take care of - and if he didn't he
wouldn't be human. If he was clever enough to wipe out the Cocaine shit then I somehow think that this 'Wright' stuff doesn't look to big to him and he is waiting thinking that if he does say something more now it will just make it bigger.

As for being in that particular pew - people go to a particular church for all kinds of problems and the decider over which church is usually done by the wife. May have had a better sunday school - maybe the people were more friendly in the coffee hour afterwards. Everybody has shit. Hillary's comes in encyclopedic form and McCain has so much shit it is kind of mind boggling. He has 5 nutty pastors for every one of Obama's. My lord his wife obstructs justice, has an adulterous affair, is a drug addict, steals from a charity (and this is what they admit to) and we are worried about Obama's former pastor?

Lets wait and get really exercised by something that Obama actually did.

But I like the frankness of your post.

Obama needs to bare his soul on this issue. Tough shit on him if he doesn't like it.

As with the old Chinese proverb for crisis also representing opportunity, Obama has a chance to let us get to know him better, talk about the role of faith in his life, put the Muslim crap to bed once and for all, and show his stuff as a leader by telling us why Wright and his church have meant so much to him over the years. He can talk about why he doesn't hold the the generational scars that have marked Wright and people of his age against him, even if he repudiates some of the things that he has said. He also needs to go very deep into why the UCC has been a great church for its 6,000 members over the years under Wright's leadership. He can close with a reminder that church and state are separated for a reason, and that this campaign (and the media) will only serve the country well when it avoids being unneccesarily derailed.

Barack has embraced Wright and that is nothing to be ashamed of. He needs to tell the story.

47. I remain unconvinced by Obama and downright scared of...
his supporters, who too often come across as mentally unbalanced.

What I want is a total "do-over" with the original slate of candidates; with the MSM actually acknowledging the existence of Biden, Dodd, DK, Edwards and Richardson.

Since that isn't going to happen, I will hold my nose and vote for the nominee. And any Dem or Independent who doesn't is immature beyond belief.

John McCain, folks! Warmonger, liar, hypocrite; who is admittedly ignorant of domestic issues, is against universal health care, is anti-choice, possibly crazy, and likely have us in another war and institute the draft. I have two nearly draft-age sons, some of you are still of draftable age. Is this really what you want? Is that really better than settling for either Clinton or Obama (whomever it is that you loathe)?

I'm absolutely disgusted with my party right now. But, the alternative is unthinkable.
