Steve King (R-IA) mouths off again: "Obama will certainly be viewed as a savior for terrorists"
Edited on Tue Mar-11-08 09:23 AM by Amerigo Vespucci

***UPDATED 3/11***

King said Monday that Obama would be viewed as a "savior" for terrorists:

An Iowa Republican congressman on Monday defended his prediction that terrorists would celebrate if Democrat Barack Obama were elected president, despite a rebuke from aides to John McCain, the GOP's apparent presidential nominee.

"(Obama will) certainly be viewed as a savior for them," Rep. Steve King told The Associated Press. "That's why you will see them supporting him, encouraging him."

1. Steve King, stuck on stupid
To paraphrase Thomas Frank, what's the matter with Iowa? I always thought it had much better taste.

12. His district is the "wingnut central" part of Iowa - I live in the eastern
part of the state, which is like a completely different planet from King-assclown-stan...this is why the presidential vote counts were such razor-thin margins in the last two elections.

4. Makes you wonder what's in HIS closet.
We all know that the louder they holler, the nastier the closet content.

5. How did this guy ever get elected?

And how do they get rid of him? This is much worse than Spitzer
hiring a prostitute, in my opinion.

6. Read between the lines
He's really saying, "Scary black man in office will attract other scary dark skinned people who will rape your women and ruin your cities!" Same scare tactics used by corrupt power brokers to keep people down since before the Civil War.

7. Time for censure.
Ironically, since both are sitting members of Congress, I can imagine if anyone else made disparaging comments about a current member of either legislative branch, then there would be hell to pay and all sorts of motions and resolutions to condemn would be put forward.

Someone needs to introduce a resolution that condemns these remarks or recommends censure if an apology isn't forthcoming. Obama isn't some random politician off the street. He is a sitting U.S. Senator.

13. Thanks for the link.
I was saddened until now, that no one else had appeared to even consider this option.

Hopefully this will get some traction and a resolution is introduced. The Democrats hold the majority of the House and even if they don't go with a full censure, a resolution to condemn these hateful and divisive remarks is the least they can do.

It's ironic that they were quick to condemn Moveon (an organization) and quick to condemn Kucinich and even Kerry, but there are crickets (as far as I know at this moment) for this man's disgusting comments against a current member of the Senate.

14. I'd like to see an online petition
although it shouldn't require one to make our representatives act on this, it will probably be forgotten by them otherwise.

8. I cannot even talk to a live person when I call pelosis office
they transfer me to a voice mail. Typical. I called my representative Zoe Lofgren, and was able to speak with a person, but I have no doubt no one cares

9. DONATE
Here is the link to his Democratic challenger:

<http://www.hublercongress.com/>

Rob Hubler's top two statements are: (1) We need a New Vision that revives in us a sense of active patriotism and unites Americans from all backgrounds in this common cause. (2) This New Vision will enable Americans to see themselves receiving equal treatment, regardless of their social status, in the areas of education, health care, and retirement planning.

If everyone on DU gave Rob $15.00, think of the CHANGE we could bring to Congress. PLEASE, WE ARE EMBARRASSED. DONATE $15.00

The good folks out in western Iowa (IA-05) should be embarrassed to have that assclown King representing them in Congress.
