Kerry criticized for French connection

WASHINGTON -- As the presidential race gets tighter and nastier, the F-word has increasingly crept into attacks against presumptive Democratic nominee John F. Kerry.

It has made its way into comments by the House majority leader, onto Internet blogs, and onto the Republican National Committee's website. It has shown up on sweatshirts and T-shirts, and been thrown around in columns by nationally known conservative writers.

Kerry, his foes complain, might as well be French.

"The French believe John Kerry has `a certain elegance,' " sneers a contributor to the FreeRepublic.com website, over unflattering pictures of the Massachusetts senator playing ping-pong, catching a football, and throwing a baseball. "Of course, the French also think Jerry Lewis is a comic genius. Think about it," the satirical posting says.

Unbeknownst to the gp, while our most patriotic Congresspeople such as the ever vigilant Bob Ney have sarcrificed dearly for the cause of effacing any trace of things French, Idaho, believe it or not, has thrown its weight behind the French Fry resistence. Idaho. Yes, Idaho. Long thought of as a bastion of militant right wing views, Idaho emerges as Fortress French Fry.

4. Will somebody please enlighten me?

What is a French man supposed to look like? Do the French look different than the English or the Irish? Good grief, this obsession with Kerry being "too French" is just ridiculous. I'm certainly not the smartest man in the world, but next to these xenophobes, I guess I'm a genius. And as far as an "F" word is concerned, Here ya go righties, ah never mind, I'd prefer not to sink to that level. It's just too early in the morning for that.
