Nader Urges Voters of Ingelwood to Reject Wal-Mart
not to start a flame war, but why aren't the CA democrats doing anything about this vote?

this could set a disturbing national precedent leading to wal-mart's ultimate evil goal of being a sovereign nation

Nader Urges Voters of Ingelwood to Reject Wal-Mart

Stop Wal-Martization of Environmental and Labor Standards

Seattle, WA
Ralph Nader urged the voters of Ingelwood, CA today to reject an initiative sponsored by Wal-Mart to build a giant megastore adjacent to Hollywood Park. Voters will vote on the initiative this Tuesday.
Wal-Mart is seeking to be exempted from planning, zoning and environmental regulations. Their proposal was unanimously rejected by the city council due to environmental, traffic, labor public safety and economic concerns. Wal-Mart has spent one million dollars trying to influence voters to support the measure.
"Wal-Mart is pulling down environmental and labor standards throughout the United States. Wal-Mart is a cancer on the economy, depressing wages and forcing their suppliers and competition to suppress wages. This is evident from the settlement of a recent supermarket strike in Los Angeles where in order to compete with Wal-Mart health benefits of workers were cut. The voters of Ingelwood can say enough is enough and tell Wal-Mart that they need to meet environmental and labor standards not tear them down," charged Ralph Nader.
Nader is running an independent campaign for president. He is currently campaigning in the northwest United States.

3. Isn't this like
supporting casinos in vegas?

I mean (and I couldn't think of an analogy worthy of what I'm thinking of) is there any doubt that they will vote this down?

Might as well say "I believe the children are our future"
