Is there any way to demand an audit of Gallup's polling methodology?
They have produced the ONLY recent poll that has * surging ahead and Kerry falling behind after Richard Clarke's testimony. I am very suspect of their sampling pool and level of bias in questions.

Can some polling experts investigate and expose these frauds? I'm really p.o.'d about this. Gallup is a disgrace!

1. Here here
They're posting phoney polls for the Diebold scheme to work. They need to be accused of this now.

2. Gallup gets a different answer than today's Pew Research Kerry lead
Gallup gets a different answer than today's Pew Research Kerry lead

It is curious.

The Pew poll released Monday (today) finds American voters still consider Bush far stronger than Democratic rival John Kerry in defending the country against terrorism (but less so than before), and while Kerry has lost ground on domestic issues after the Bush ads, the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press still has 47 percent for Kerry and 46 percent for Bush. When independent Ralph Nader is in the mix, the two remain tied, while Nader gets 6 percent.

And the ket item is that swing voters who before Clarke's allegations were made public were over 75% yes as to Bush "strong on handling terrorism" are now just over 50% saying Bush is stronger on terrorism.

The ads have hurt Kerry on jobs, with the Kerry advantage over Bush of almost 20 points in the Pew poll in mid-March now down to eight points, 45-37, in the new survey, and likewise on healthcare Kerry's advantage over Bush shrank from 28 points to 13 points.

But this is a "vacation" result - the lower vacation "profile" really has not been made up by the move-on ads.

5. So they can just get away with manipulating the electorate
with phony, or at least fishy, poll results? Let's go get ourselves a class action lawyer. This is a scam and shell game pure and simple.

6. What's your cause of action?
How have you been harmed? What is the gravamen of your case against them? They can produce polls showing Mickey Mouse with a lead, and you can demonstrate no redressable harm, unfortunately...

7. I'm a psychologist, not a lawyer.
But, imho, if it isn't it should be a crime to claim to be using valid methodology and instead be manipulating results to influence an election. I call that fraud.

Poll: Bush credibility down

By Richard Benedetto, USA TODAY

WASHINGTON — President Bush's credibility rating is down since his former counterterrorism chief went public last week with accusations that Bush minimized the al-Qaeda threat to focus on getting rid of Iraq's Saddam Hussein, according to a USA TODAY/CNN/Gallup Poll.

The Bush administration did not do all it could to prevent the attacks, 54% say, and 53% say the White House is covering up something about its handling of intelligence before Sept. 11.

Still, 67% say the administration should not have been expected to prevent the tragedy.

But Americans' doubts have not meant greater reluctance to return Bush to office.

In a two-way matchup, Bush leads Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry, the Democratic candidate, 51%-47%, which is a 7 percentage-point gain in three weeks for Bush and a 5-point drop for Kerry. Three weeks ago, when Kerry was coming off a string of primary victories, Bush trailed him by 6 points.

If independent Ralph Nader is included, he gets 4%, Bush 49% and Kerry 45%.

9. Demand zip codes
I saw a pollster on Inside Politics and they said they choose the zip codes, not the people they poll. Oh really. Just the zip codes huh. We need to know what zip codes they polled in order to determine the accuracy of the poll.

11. Isn't Gallup A Supporter of *?

About two months ago I got so mad at Gallup, I wrote to them.
They told me that their polls were absolutely balanced. I was shocked to hear them say that they interview a cross section of people at shopping malls!

I sure would like to go with them one day to see which Malls they go to- LOL. There is sure not an ethnic/religious balance in the Malls that I go to-and I am a real shopper.

There are a lot of economic differences in Malls. Are they visiting Malls in Orange County, Urban Los Angeles, Downtown Los Angeles, Palm Springs or Beverly Hills?

Visit their website for a real eye opener.

Let them hear from you!

12. Thanks, will do.
I have my own personal story about Gallup's biased polling, which I've posted on DU before.

People, WAKE UP, before it is way too late!
