Full House In Fort Worth For Obama (10K + Overflow)
"Fort Worth, si se puede," Illinois Sen. Barack Obama chanted Thursday at his rally in the Fort Worth Convention Center.

Supporters chimed in, chanting, "Yes we can" in Spanish.

The crowd's voices echoed throughout Cowtown at Obama's presidential campaign rally.

Obama reached out to Texans - more than 10,000 of them - with an initial "Hey, y'all."

Because the Fort Worth campaign committee didn't want to turn people away, Obama supporters had to be directed to an overflow section that fit about 10,000, said Leslie McClinton, a campaign volunteer.

Obama made his way over to the overflow section to speak to supporters before making his speech in the 10,005-seat arena.

A crowd of TCU students for Obama arrived about an hour and a half before the rally was scheduled to begin, sporting campaign paraphernalia, signs and posters.

"Obama is someone to care about," said Ashley Southerland, a junior advertising/public relations major.

Southerland, along with other TCU students, volunteered at the rally as recruiters, encouraging people to help the Obama campaign in Texas.

1. Did any Democrats show up?
http://republicansforobama.org/?q=node/359

E-mail to send to Texas Republicans

Attention All Texas Republicans and Independents!!

On March 4th, Texas Republicans and Independents will have an opportunity to end Hillary Clinton's (and Bill's) presidential ambitions once and for all!

Since Texas has on open primary, Republicans and Independents should sign in at their polling place and request a Democratic ballot. They should then vote for Barack Obama. Even James Carville admits that if Hillary loses Texas, "she's done!" Republicans can help make this a reality!!! Just think, no more Clintons in the White House!

Voting Democratic this one time will have NO effect on your ability to vote in the next Republican primary or obviously on your vote in November. Since John McCain has the Republican nomination locked up, voting for McCain or Huckabee at this point will have no effect on the outcome on the Republican side.

After you vote during early voting or on March 4th, you ARE NOT done! Report back to your regular polling place at 7PM on March 4th to sign the Barack Obama list for caucus delegates. In a little known Texas voting quirk, 67 delegates to the Democratic convention will be seated because of these caucuses. This is a full one-third of the total number of Texas delegates. For Hillary to lose, she has to lose the primary votes AND the caucus votes.

I urge you to vote against Hillary Clinton by voting for Barack Obama. Please forward this e-mail to all your Texas Republican and Independent friends so that we can help ensure the Clinton's defeat on March 4th!!!

6. Do Coulter, Beck, Limbaugh, Murdoch and other neo-con Hillary endorsers go to Hillary rallies?

Seriously though, I thought you guys were blaming "party activists," the youth vote, blacks, and men for all your primary losses? So now you are blaming Republicans?

9. When was the last time Clinton won the most Democratic votes in a primary?
It wasn't Wisconsin, Hawaii, Virginia or Maryland. Not DC, Maine, Washington or Nebraska. It wasn't Louisiana, either. Nope, you've got to go back to Super Tuesday to find a primary where Clinton won more Democrats than Obama.

Ouch.

10. I was there and the House was a rockin' for Barack
The crowd waiting to get in stretched as very back several blocks all the way into the Fort Worth Water Gardens. I didn't even know about the overflowing area.

So, I guess that implies there were 20,000 people there.

I took a few pictures of the rally. I couldn't believe the diverse crowd a mix of blacks, whites, latinos, old, young, men, women, all there to hear and listen to Senator Barack Obama.

YEEEEHAWWWW.:kick: for Cowtown.

12. Here is a pic I composited from 2 photos. It shows the crowd at the back of the stadium
This is pointing at the back, and you can see the open area on the floor around the press area.
The standing area was PACKED. Glad I wasn't in that part, I probably would have fainted from the heat and standing for 3+ hours.
I didn't know about the overflow area either, and I would guess between 10/11k inside - it seats 11k, but the standing crowd was so dense, I would judge it at about full capacity. (1/3 of the floor was blocked off for press and cameras)

width="1024" height="418" alt="ObamaCrowd_wide_LowQ" /></a>

Here is a closeup - Barack very casually talked "in the round", facing the volunteers in the back, and to each side. They took away the podium before he came up. "That guy don't need no stinkin' podium- he's goin' casual here."
The crowd was so diverse and so energized. I spoke with a very nice woman next to me, who said she hadn't seen this size crowd at a political rally in decades.
So many families were there, and there was a real party atmosphere.
Some may scoff, but ENERGY and HOPE are important to the life of democracy. It was like new growth after the slash and burn of the Bush years. That is SO going to help us in the down ticket, if he is the nominee.. This man has some coattails!
