Check in now if you're Absolutely fucking DONE with Barack Obama!
Edited on Mon Feb-25-08 03:29 PM by jlake
He continues to trash Hillary at every turn. Believing RW lies and manipulation as if it were gospel.
Attacking Hillary with NO PROOF over dubious charges.
This whole "I'm an innocent victim and Hillary is a mean, unhinged, vindictive woman" schtick is wearing a bit thin.
Obama: Grow a fucking spine. Hillary didn't do ANYTHING - and the horrible attacks you *think* you've suffered from Hillary are
.00000001% of what the M$M GOP Slime machine will spew out 24/7. And they won't step down when you complain.

Obama continues to side with the GOP. Trusting Drudge over Hillary....I see a pattern.
There doesn't appear to be any loyalty to the Democratic Party or traditional Democratic values from his campaign.
He knows he will be the weaker candidate in the GE, but his ego drives him to risk it all for his own glory.

252. So you changed your mind within the day? But it doesn't matter. A write-in is still a vote for McC
You need to support the Dem nominee, if you dare call yourself a Dem. That's what is being stuffed down Obama supporters throats, so open up, and swallow. If you don't support the Dem nominee, then your vote won't cancel out a McCain vote - nor will it count. So after the GE, you have no right to bitch, moan or complain - regardless of the outcome.

Unless you hate American and don't want me to have the freedom to vote for whomever I wish.

And after the GE, I'll have a right to bitch *whatever* the outcome.

I see no discernible difference between Clinton and Obama and none of us have a crystal ball. We will not know what we have until the new Democrat president takes his or her hand off the Bible and we will never know what we would have had if. . .

But we do have a pretty good idea what we will have with a Democrat, as opposed to a Republican. So you, sir, have no excuse.

230. Get used to WHAT? Bill Kristol is an ass.
To see someone link to an article by him on DU is mind boggling. He's also quite well known - not just "here". He's become a sad, pathetic creature, and he'll go off on Hillary, too, but no DEMOCRAT would care, and probably few repukes at this point.

Check out the Daily Show videos when Jon Stewart has him on, and tells him he's been wrong about everything he's said so far over the past 7 years, and tries to get a few more predictions so we know what else won't happen, or the interview with Stephen Colbert where Colbert made fun of him the whole time, and asked him how the PNAC was doing. He's a joke. A sad, pathetic repuke joke.

The one that worked in 2004, and in 2000, and...

Ignore his attacks on Obama at your own peril. You think Obama can handle the Repukes if he and his supporters are whining this much about Hillary? What are you going to do when you can't call McCain a "shrill bitch"? What are you going to do when they swift-boat Barack? When they run that picture of him wearing traditional Kenyan garb and call him a Muslim, and put his picture side by side with Osama bin Laden?

"He's a joke. A sad, pathetic repuke joke."

Remember Willie Horton? Dukakis in the tank? What they did to Dan Rather, for pointing out that GWB was a drunken draft-dodger?

I fear the joke is going to be on Obama, and his naive supporters.

we should vote for the candidate kristol likes, so that, you know, barack doesn't get criticized, because barack obviously can not stand up for himself or defend his policies or record judging by how poor he's done this campaign season...and i guess too you're saying bill kristol won't attack clinton b/c she's immune? or maybe b/c she too is a pro-war hack?

"Obama is becoming the antiwar candidate, and Hillary Clinton is becoming the responsible Democrat who could become commander in chief in a post-9/11 world."- Bill Kristol

anyone with an ounce of critical thinking skills knows by now that kristol is an irrelevant hack. the only people who give him a hint of "respect" are neo-cons themselves. and even if i am wrong on that, do you really think it will make a difference who the dem nom is? he will attack anyone of our guys- that's his job, his calling, his reason for existence.

320. No, I'm saying Kristol writes the play-book
He's done it before. He'd write it against Hillary if she were the nominee.

But she's not. Ever wonder why that is? Since she's already withstood all the attacks, has already had all the dirt there is waved around in public? And, given that so many people (including, regrettably, so many Obama supporters) believe the lies, crap and sexist shit that have been said about her for 16 years, don't you think it is odd that they are our two choices? One with endless fodder for swift-boat attacks, and the other one who has already been swift-boated in the eyes of a good percentage of Americans?

"anyone with an ounce of critical thinking skills knows by now that kristol is an irrelevant hack"

Great. So 0.05% of likely voters will ignore him.

"the only people who give him a hint of "respect" are neo-cons themselves"

EXACTLY. So if you ignore him, you ignore how the corporate elites plan to attack and defeat him.

I guess we could just "Hope" instead...

454. Republican irony
Reach across the aisle, and I'll chop your arm off.

Compromise with me all day, and I'll still stab you in the back the first chance I get.

When you (think you) are in charge, I'll complain all day that you aren't "bi-partisan" and that you've shut us out.

When I'm (officially) in charge, don't bother to show up, 'cause it won't make a damn bit of difference.

I'll impeach yours over a blow job, and know that you won't impeach mine over the greatest government crimes our nation has ever known.

Your last President will forever be known as "scandal ridden" (something people on DU seem to constantly say about the Clintons these days), while mine will forever be known for "the war on terror" (we can always pull a false flag in case we need to do any "legacy building").

Reagan was a great President. Carter was a failure.

Any questions? Who cares. Now STFU.

If it was Hillary on the other hand, you would need to be very, very fearful.

It is an insult to call Obama's supporters naive. Maybe some are, but the vast majority are not. I certainly am not.

I really do think you can rest easy - Obama has handled Hillary and her RW type attacks well, and will do the same with the actual GOP, especially the torn and tattered GOP of today.

453. These are the corporatists who OWN America
And they damn well aren't going to give it back without a fight. And the have all the money in the world to fight with.

If he were as much a threat to them as Hillary, she'd be winning now. Edwards, you'll notice, is no longer in the race.

They've got the one they want to run against, just like Nixon did in '72.

If you think the GOP won't attack Obama more than Hillary has (and I don't think she has--not true Repuke-style hate machine attacks, swift-boat style, Watergate style), then you're in for a shock. The Obama-Hussein-bin-Laden is a Muslim who hates America 'cause he doesn't wear a flag or put his hand on his heart and dressed up like a sheik crap will become so deafening, so overwhelming, that it will become *the* narrative and Obama will have to swim upstream against it for 8 months. And since all the crap will come from 527s (and from the MSM rerunning their ads over and over again for free), he won't be able to "fight back" with his own money...

The fascist-corporate takeover begun by Prescott Bush in the 1930's (only because it was undone by FDR) has reached its highest point to date under GWB. Corporate profits and wealth disparity are at record highs. If Obama is a threat, they are going to throw more at him then they have ever thrown at anyone, ever.

If he's NOT a threat, then we don't stand to gain a whole lot, now do we?

457. Of COURSE the GOP will attack more than Hillary has.
But they would attack Hillary even more. Do you think they've been sleeping for the past 10 years? They've been waiting for the day she is nominated, and now it seems they're not going to get it.

I disagree that "they got the one they want to run against". I think the GOP you're talking about wanted Hillary. I think also that Hillary would get the GOP vote out like no one else. I believe the repuke party is crashing and burning, and won't be very effective this time around. They're not the party of 2000, or 2004.

I believe Obama is more of a threat to them than Hillary, because Hillary wouldn't win the General, and Obama, I believe, will. He also has a very fast response team, unlike Kerry in 2004, and a lot of REPUBLICANS like him, and dislike John McCain. It won't be a walk in the park, but I do think Obama can fight back very effectively, and WILL.

At this point, Hillary doesn't even need the GOP to lose the election for her - she's done a pretty good job of making sure of it all by herself. She was the GOP's DREAM candidate, but unfortunately, the voters chose otherwise.

And also, your assertion that Obama can't win the GE is Fantasyland.

RealClearPolitics' head-to-head polls show Obama beating McCain, and Hillary LOSING to McCain.

Get over the hate. Get used to hearing "President Obama" starting 11 months from now.

The latest outrages are her disgusting and silly saracasm show in Rhode Island which both insults religion and the millions of Obama supporters from across the spectrum, and someone in her camp smearing Obama with a photo of him in traditional Somali garb on a trip to that nation. How you can stomach the Clinton campaign right now is beyond me.

37. I will vote for him as our nominee. I will work to get him elected also
This isn't about personalities or who I most like or trust. It is about raw power. I believe my interests and the interests of most Americans will be better served under a Democratic Administration - virtually ANY Democrtaic Administration, than under a Republican one. My self interests and that of the world will better be served by a President Obama (or President Clinton) than it would be by a President McCain. In fact there is a way in which I take some bitter comfort in seeing that Obama is capable of fighting hard against an opponent as well as promoting himself - that is a concern of mine regarding a Presidential Election that will be fought much more with negative tactics than has been this primary.

In the meantime however, while this nomination remains in doubt, I will give Obama NO slack. I will not refrain from pointing out the ways in which his campaign unfairly attacks while claiming to be the victim

Hillary Clinton knew she had to tear down Obama any way she could. Now,
she's got her supporters upset that people have "hope", and she's convinced
them that his rallies are mythical, pastel adventures from the land of "unicorns"
and "rainbows."

Silly me! I was voting for him because of his stand on Habeas Corpus and his
background as a Constitutional Scholar. Wow, I was so preoccupied with his
promise to end illegal wiretaps and his commitment to closing Guantanamo...that I missed
the kitties in tiaras and all of that glitter!

I'm really surprised at the naivety of so many Obama supporters. They must be young or new to paying attention to politics. And I'm surprised at how few seem to remember how great the economy was in the 90s. Up up and away. That is the major reason I have been supporting Team Clinton! I don't trust Obama to tackle it as well as Hillary frankly. And that means less money in your pocket, dudes. But, hey, he gives a good speech!

448. Yeah the economy was great BUT
Apparently presidents don't have a lot to do with it.

And Bill signed some of the most corporate friendly legislation known to mankind - The DMCA, Welfare Reform, NAFTA, etc. He wasn't a great president and I see Hils in the same light. In fact, after seeing some of the stuff she's done recently I see her doing a lot worse. Her nose is way too far in the corporate trough.

70. People are saying that if Obama is the nominee that the Clinton
supporters will without question at least a majority of 46% vote for Obama,(doubt it) while saying that Obama supporters might not support Clinton.(this I believe) As a Clinton supporter I'm having a hard time warming up to Obama. Many of us really like Hillary and Bill Clinton and we want to go back to the days of peace and prosperity and real solutions to real problems.

So when Obama surrogate call Bill Clinton a racist, we resent it. When Obama says that Hillary is in the pocket of the lobbyists, we resent it. When we hear Obama surrogates talking about the Clintons the way the Republicans talk about the Clintons, we really resent it.

Those of us who actually and factually know Hillary is the better qualified candidate will probably not vote McCain, it CANNOT be assumed that we are going to support Obama.

Many of us are very deeply offended and I'm trying to like Obama and it's just not happening. I would warn Obama supporters that being anti-Clinton might result in a Republican president.

if he becomes our nominee. He could give us a landslide, or he might flame out spectacularly. We don't know, and that makes it interesting. With Hillary, I feel like I already know exactly what I'm getting...the Kerry/Gore strategy of the blue states+1. The same strategy she used to such somnolent effect in this primary. That hasn't excited/inspired anyone or led to a Democrat in the white house since Bill Clinton.

103. My question is:
Am I or am I not done with the Democratic Party? To vote for Obama in Nov, as I am sure I will this one last time for the Party, to do that will drain my very last bit of compromise. That will be all I have. After Nov I make no promises and will only vote for actual Progressives. No more DINOs no more craven panderers to Fundy extremists. Just no more.

108. I was hoping for Biden. I think he was the best bet ,but, as it is,
since I am a dedicated Democrat, I will vote for the Democratic nominee. The ugly candidate bashing that goes on in this forum is simply abysmal and very counter-productive. Makes me wonder if there is any party loyalty left or if there was any to begin with some of the posters. Discouraging.

321. I never doubted DU was SWARMING w/ObamaBashers -- but I don't see that in the society as a whole ..
There are very strong partisans on both sides, including some "mean and evil" ones, but it seems obvious to me (an admittedly partisan observer) that there are MANY more ObamaBashers (eg creating and sustaining HUGE long threads by the multitude about McClurkin -- unreflected in the world of GLBT politics generally in anything like that proportion) than people viciously trying to trash HRC. This was true BEFORE Obama started really soaring (late Oct/early Nov) and now that he is indeed the odds-on favorite for the nomination. (Now, some of the worst ObamaBashers have been tombstoned, tho it appears some might be coming back w/new nics). And at least a few of the leading ObamaBashers have toned it down, but not so much that the ObamaBashing is not greater than the similar trashing of HRC, even now.

I'm sorry jlake, but a lot of your hatred is spawn from Hillary's own decision to stay in this thing. After looking at today's polling, it is in fact OVER for her. I have absolutely no idea why she's still in this race. The poo she's slinging is getting on everyone now, and frankly it's just a big mess. If I were Obama or any Democrat for that matter, I'd just want to end this thing now. She's basically peed in the pool, and I can't blame anyone for wanting to get the hell out of it.

167. It never began with Obama... It ends with my support of HRC
... I just got through admitting this a few days ago that I'd now support Hillary. I was a die hard Kucinich supporter.

Point: She will win over the Republican machine. He will not. Sorry, if you don't agree. Think about it some more if you do think at all. Enough of the fighting.

There is no counter point to who stands to loose here. Substance to his policy is missing, lack of substance to his ability as a game day coach is REAL, regardless of how he has "energized" along with Oprah and Caroline the people who have been UNINTERESTED UNTIL NOW. They hold signs on cue, they bring up Teddy on cue... The campaign is as predictable as the run up to the war in Iraq. It has ALL THE HALLMARKS of it.

What are these same individuals prepared to do, once an alleged Obama winner is "in". I am very willing to acknowledge that a true leader will need to LEAD. He's very inspiring, and a good vice president, who I would say should join an HRC ticket, but he has NOT SAID ANYTHING.

Furthermore, I see John Kerry is very willing to explain to groups of folks in Texas and wherever else he roams, just how Obama stands on the issues. This is John Kerry, folks. the same John Kerry who SEVERELY disappointed me us his inability to stand up to this last theft in the WH.

176. It is an obvious absurdity
She cannot beat Obama but she will be able to defeat the Republicans

Obama is a terrible campaigner having trounced her in 11 straight up contests but she will out perform him in the general eventhough he is out polling her amongst independents and republicans.

Every single GE poll shows him out polling Hillary against McCain.

But if this is what it takes for you to get thru next Tuesday go with it. It ends on Tuesday. Texas will count.

By the way the party has bent over backwards to let her back in the race even though she started with all of the advantages and has a consistent slide down.

... and if you're right, I'm fine with it.

I wasn't born yesterday, however, and I understand what has gone into the mix of what call a trouncing in this "race". It's a media pumped, new rules applied, caucusing extravaganza of primaries, and we haven't run these primaries the same way, have we? We've never had the star chamber filled bunch of celebrities, and comparisons of Michelle Obama to Jackie Kennedy, nor have we had the unbelievable cheerleaders for Obama that came out of "needing hope" while both negatively campaigned. It's real fucked up, and I don't feel it's been a race so much as a high colonic.

That makes it rather difficult to point to the better man or woman.

203. No candidate in the 20th century was able to enter the campaign
with more political assets in their pocket. She carried the brand of the best organized political machine in the post war democratic party. For 40 years the Clinton's have been collecting every business card ever given them and enrolling them in the FOB (Friends of Bill).

The irony is that they tried to package Hillary and never found a message. If they had fired all of their consultants and experts and simply ran Hillary as an approachable person she would have been the nominee. There is one intelligent thing that GWB said about running as the relative of a president "you have all of their enemies and half of their friends", and they never made a real effort to reduce the former or increase the latter. At the start of this Barack didn't have a chance he was running against 6 strong Democratic candidates. He didn't even have a majority of the Black vote. He didn't have millions left over from his Senate campaign like she did.

You can find the reason for his success back in being a community organizer.http://www.chicagomag.com/Chicago-Magazine/January-1993/Vote-of-Confidence/ It turns out spending years working and talking with ordinary people and seeing how they deal with their problems is a much better training ground than spending times with elites, lobbyists and position papers. Like Kennedy, no his pre politician life is a lot more similar to Lincolns. He has the finely tuned political ear that Bill used to have.

But if it helps you come to grips to seeing your candidate losing by blaming the fact that he had an overwhelming response from famous people as well as ordinary folk, and somehow this is a bad or unfair thing then you go with that. Be diffident, patronizing and dismissive as history passes you by. It really does read however is that you are trying harder to convince yourself than you are trying to convince someone else.

Make a date to meet up with you on March 5th. Good luck.

195. Done with BO here in Chicago
Edited on Mon Feb-25-08 08:46 PM by bajamary
Yikes, the Second Coming is really getting thick and way overdone with Mr. BO.

I've never seen any true substantive progressive policy that BO continued to support. Alas, he's a flip flopper, like so many pols.

I'd love to hear his explanation as to why he asked his currently jail central fundraiser, Tony Resko, to tour the Hyde Park mansion BEFORE he and Michele and the Reskos made a deal that resulted in a major price reduction on this mansion for BO.

What the heck is that all about?

Furthermore, I live in Chicago and I know his spin miesters are all old machine pols. How many DUers know that Obama is really backed by the Daley/Democratic Chicago bosses?

What kind of "change" is that, my dear Americans?

Only certain kinds of truth are a core value with Mr. BO. Only certain kind.

379. Fact check.org says...

Obama Mailings 'False'?
February 24, 2008
Clinton says Democrats should be "outraged." You be the judge.
Summary
Clinton said "every Democrat should be outraged" at two "false" mailers that Obama sent to voters in Ohio.

We find that a mailer criticizing her position on trade is indeed misleading. One that attacks her health-care plan we have previously described as straining the facts, though not exactly "false."
Trade: A mailer showing a locked plant gate quotes Clinton as saying she believed NAFTA was "a boon" to the economy. Those are not her words and Obama was wrong to put quote marks around them. In fact, she's been described by a biographer as privately opposing NAFTA in the White House.

Health Care: A second mailer said Clinton's health care plan "forces everyone to buy insurance, even if you can't afford it." We have previously said that mailer "lacks context" and strains the facts. But both Obama and Clinton have been exaggerating their differences on this issue.
We've also previously criticized Clinton for sending a mailer that twisted Obama's words and gave a false picture of his proposals on Social Security, home foreclosures and energy.

We leave it to our readers to decide whether they should be "outraged" or not, and at whom.

260. Stop accepting everything as good from your cand. Make them listen to us
Health care should be single payer and NOT FOR PROFIT or nothing really changes.

Get out of Iraq means no permanent bases, no pushing our brand of democracy off on them (unregulated disaster capitalism). Reconstruction is being withheld until they pass an oil sharing law with US (oil corps.)

"...Regardless of who is elected, in the coming year U.S. combat forces in Iraq will undoubtedly continue to contract to a fewer number of combat brigades and special operations forces focused on counter-terrorism and the mission of continuing to train and mentor the Iraqi Army and police forces. Much of the "war" that is already being fought is being supported from Kuwait and other locations, and the ongoing shifts seem to point to an intent to increasingly pull additional functions and people out of harm's way.

Of course they will not be out of harm's way at all, because a permanent American military presence in the region brings with it its own dangers and provocations. But most important what it brings for the next president is a fait accompli: a pause that facilitates a drawdown that begins to look a lot like a continuation of the same military and strategic policy, even at a time when there is broad questioning as to whether this is the most effective way to fight "terrorism."

Arkin is of course being over-polite in his conclusion: it has long been clear that the Bush Administration's policies – repeatedly ratified by the bipartisan foreign policy establishment – have nothing to do with fighting "terrorism," effectively or otherwise. It is a demonstrable fact – attested to by the Administration's own intelligence services – that these policies are actually exacerbating, empowering and emboldening terrorism all over the world. It is also obvious – albeit far less openly acknowledged – that these policies are themselves a form of terrorism: state terrorism, on a massive scale, which has already killed at least a million people in Iraq alone.

But Arkin is right on the money in noting that these developments – which have drawn not a peep of protest or the slightest questioning from the great "progressives" seeking the Democratic nomination (much less the bilious bagman cruising to the GOP nod) – are indeed "a continuation of the same military and strategic policy" that is driving the imperial war-state on to more "full spectrum operations" all over the world, for decades to come. And much as I might wish it to be otherwise, I have seen nothing to make me believe that any of the chicken-chompers bound for the White House will make any actual, substantial changes in this policy, much less begin the task of rolling back the empire.

But hey, did you see how Hillary waggled those feathers in her mouth when Obama spit that beak out at her? Then Hillary's campaign manager said… and then the polls showed… and then McCain told a reporter that… and then the Oscars… March Madness, baby!"

It all begins and ends with impeachment...something neither candidate is talking about. The neocons will just continue in the background until they can regain power unless this administration is indicted and all their disasters rectified.

269. The Time has come...
to shut down DU and for everyone to take their ball and go home. This site has descended into nothing but silly name-calling worthy of a grade-school playground. I think everyone here really needs to ask themselves if they REALLY believe all the crap and innuendo each is saying about the other. I can NOT be the only who sees this. I do wonder if the people on this site have gotten so married to a candidate that they have lost site of what this is all about. Yeah, each candidate does and says things to malign and criticize the other candidate. Each puts out technically correct pieces of literature. The supporters of each have passion, etc., which is really great. But people...please...this notion that those who support "the other 'guy'" are delusional or despicable is just ridiculous. Do I like the down and dirty of politics? No. Do I wish that each candidate would take the high road (whatever that is)? Of course. But, remember that these people are humans. Their supporters are humans with all the frailties and notorious fallibility unique to human beings. And they do the wrong thing sometimes. So, please...PLEASE, let's tone down the rhetoric. I understand that one side wants to give it to the other side and call them liars, etc., but really...it's time the vitriol end.

My first choice was John Edwards, but I don't begrudge anyone's support for their candidate. I think all of the candidates are good and decent people who have this country's best interest at heart. Each of these people has been willing to put themselves on the line and risk failure, in public of all places with everyone to see. This has to be a most humbling thing for anyone. Finally, these candidate have done this knowing full well the almost insurmountable task of not only reversing course after 8 absolutely disastrous years, but beginning to reforge long, lost relationships internationally and restoring the social contract of Americans with their government. I understand passion, but please, folks, let's respect each other's views and candidates instead of imputing all kinds of insidious motives, etc. to the supporters of the candidates, and the candidates themselves.

(If you think you've seen this post, I posted it at the pro-Obama thread before this.)

You're being reasonable and making sense.

Play the oldest trick in the book eg.:

1. Get Hillary and Obama supporters hating each other.

2. Get them to believe anything bad the MSM/MCM says about the other one.

3. Get the winning (or at least leading) group to alienate the losing (trailing) group.

4. Alienated voters stay home, vote 3rd party, or write in a candidate.

RESULT:

Republican victory in November!

Brilliant!:sarcasm:

283. Thank you! We need to inject some clarity, maturity, intelligence
... into this conversation. Politics is messy business, and
people who do politics are usually not able to stay too pure
and clean. Since we were all born before this moment, and have
some knowledge of history, we needn't hate and despise our
candidates for not always being totally forthright or kind.

Hillary, and her husband, are brilliant and successful
politicians. Barack Obama is turning out to be mighty
effective himself, at least in this race. I would love to see
the loser in this game survive intact. There is plenty of
value in each of these candidates and WE NEED good, strong
democrats in positions of responsibility. We should really
keep people like Kucinich, Edwards, B.O. and H.R.C. around.
Each has something very valuable to contrbute. It is so
childish to hate the opponent and his or her supporters, this
scorched-earth policy is so self-destructive.

Really, c'mon, people! Let's keep our ideals, values and
priorities in mind, and pursue
the best, most thoughtful course of action that aligns with
them.

And give up the rage and hatred.
We need to find commonality and join forces, especially right
now.

273. Absolutely done with the Clintons
Edited on Tue Feb-26-08 03:37 AM by Baby Snooks
This photo which she so coyly refuses to absolutely deny was put out there by one of her campaign workers, more than likely at her direction, while also coyly acting as if it's "much ado about nothing" really was the final straw for quite a few. No doubt if all else fails she will distance herself from her remarks and try to blame it on the "right-wing conspiracy" as you are apparently trying to do which we all know has always had it in for the Clintons.

Reality is that if the Clintons hadn't lived their lives in a gutter, the right-wing wouldn't have had anything to conspire about. They have served themselves up on a silver platter. First to the right-wing. Now to the left-wing.

There are a growing number of Republicans who probably will vote for Barack Obama. Simply because they cannot bear the thought of either John McCain or Hillary Clinton as president. It has nothing to do with party or party loyalty or in this case disloyalty but simply character.

Barack Obama has not lived his life in a gutter. The Clintons have.

Obama would have had to say was "yeah, I dressed in native garb, just like so many other politicians before me so what?" Why make a big thing out of it? Is he embarrassed by it? And to put any credibility to anything drudge says is, well, way beyond my comprehension.

280. Getting close
Obama can give a good speech, but it seems a whole lot of flash and not much beef.

Obama never takes a hard position, he always tries halfway to please everyone.

Kind of wimpy.

I can see how all the MTV crowd are starry-eyed about him, but the Obama fad may last as long as most fads to that crowd, not very long until the next shiny thing takes their fancy.

Obama seems more fond of past republican presidents like Reagan and then trash talks the Clinton years. There is a definite pattern and it is not complimentary to Obama.

Not yet.We are going to have him as the next Prez....barring another election theft. You can feel free to champion Hillary all you like...but you need to face the cold hard facts....she's going to lose the nomination (fingers crossed here). The fact is simple...that Obama is the better candidate. He wasn't and still isn't my choice. But he is FAR better than Hillary.

And don't give me that experience BS.I'll take an inexperienced Obama, over an experienced Hillary any day of the week.

Or,we could all get together and write in a real candidate.Kooch.

284. I don't think the Obama-cult thing is one way...
Hilary supporters can act like there is a smear campaign going on right now, but this woman has been acting insane over the last few weeks. There's no consistency at all in her campaign.

Maybe you love Hilary, but Obama isn't the only one beating Hilary. Hilary is beating her herself. They put together a half-ass campaign and when it started slipping away, they freaked out and Hilary went all over the map. The problem is that her campaign is searching for that one controversial issue they can get in the media that will stick. When they do this, they offend lots of people in the process.

Obama's people, on the other hand, are running one of the greatest campaigns in our lifetime. He is energizing peope all over the country; even in the red states! People don't come out in droves because they are stupid or crazed cult maniacs. They come out because it's exciting!

You refer to Hillary as "acting insane". I'm sure there's a compliment in there somewhere.

I agree Obama's campaign is running much more smoothly. He's doing a much better job of getting his message out.

I will maintain one position no matter who wins or loses the primaries. There has been some measure of nastiness on both sides.
Politics is, by it's very nature, a nasty business.

I've seen great candidates. I've seen good candidates. I've seen average and bad candidates. I've never seen or heard of any candidate without flaws.

turned my stomach when Oprah stuck herself in it. People need
to get the gaze out of their eyes and realize what they're
voting for. This is President of the U.S. Just remember, the
same thing happened when Bush ran, he fooled everybody too,
being so religious and everything. Get off the bandwagon and
think for yourself for a change. This site should be called

Your phrase appears to reference "absolute fucking," which certainly sounds interesting, but probably is a separate topic. One hopes there is an accompanying video.

Neither Sen. Obama nor Sen. Clinton appear to have a drive-though green light to the nomination in Denver. Both have a substantial delegate count. Sixteen states/territories have yet to cast votes.

He'll lead the the Fremmen to freedom.

Seriously, he is nothing but platitudes and derivative ones at that. It is not that he is some kind of great leader so much as his fans pysychologically need one and they project their needs onto him. He also shows a feminine side that HC cannot show without looking weak. Those fans really, really turn me off. Basically we have a centrist Dem. with a lot of experience including 8 years as Pres. Clinton's close advisor and who knows how to get stuff done vs. another centrist Dem. without that experience. That we would fall for the latter is a pretty scarey statement as a party. And whether or not you think a 1993 trade deal or the IWR is relevant to this election, the fact remains, slandering HC does not make O any better.

I'm really sick of the whining about the mere fact that HC is fighting back. If HC does not do well on 3/4, then I'm pretty much resigned to a McCain presidency, because there is no way O can beat McC. All those white men that O is relying on will desert him in the general. They always do.

Every time you do you diminish your candidate and reduce his appeal to those who quite reasonably have a degree of scepticism about his candidacy.

win both Texas & Ohio she has to drop out or the party will be divided. Its human nature to get behind your person.

When the picture came out & then I saw her freaking out about those mailers & on top of that making fun of his speeches.... I was like, If she comes back and wins I wouldn't even vote for her now. I would vote Green party.

This is coming from a guy who has always liked Hillary. I listen to both of her books and have always been a big fan.

That's why this election cant continue on much longer. The party will get divided and McCain will win. Can you imagine McCain as our President? What a nightmare.

I was up in the air for awhile on who to support once Edwards left but I felt it was best to go with Obama. My personal choice.

But I pray Obama wins Ohio & Texas not so much I like him that much more then Hillary but to end this race before we are to divided.

This is hurting our party.

for the Democratic Party even if I have to hold my nose to do so. But I have to say...this is the party's last chance with me. The motto "yes we can" will change to "you damn well better". I'm tired of seeing my own party played for fools by the right wing. I'm tired of hearing about the greatest president we have had since FDR dissed in favor of mediocre (at best) politicians who can't manage to win elections because they're afraid of hurting the GOP's feelings. I'm tired of elections outright stolen from the people because candidates are all flowery talk and no spine. I'm tired of Democratic politicians who say they will "change" and actually do some work once elected only to sit on their status quo.

I will vote...but I'm tired of voting against a candidate rather than for one.

You're absolutely correct about the GOP slime machine. The best thing that Hillary mourners can do is to get through the 7-step grieving process ASAP and get behind the nominee. Well-heeled lobbyists are already throwing money at "great reformer" McCain's campaign, and there will be no end to the dirt that's spewed forth. I am not Hillary fan...however, this guy is not a Democrat if he uses GOP ads to trash healthcare proposals; his wife has a chip on her shoulder, has everything and whines (and has always been a whiner, from reports I've read...foreign press stories are quite detailed); his Rezko dealings will be coming to the fore..and the name AUCHI is already out in the UK press....

I don't know who planted him, but he is a plant. He's played the race card since the beginning and has gotten a free pass and the media has enabled most of this crap. (Referring to Edwards as "the white guy" 3 times in a debate was the final straw.) He disses the 60s but embraces images and words from then if it's convenient. He's a two-faced weasel. He combines the "love me" neediness of Clinton with the real arrogance of Bush.

His utter ignorance on foreign affairs makes him even MORE like Bush. He pads his resume with the subcommittee which deals with Nato, but hasn't called a meeting. Meanwhile, in Afghanistan (Taliban have Kabul in their sights, new article up at ATimes (http://www.atimes.com/atimes/South_Asia/JB27Df01.html)and now Kosovo-Serbia, Nato is really in a mess....what does he opine about that??? Serbia is a tinderbox, moving back into the Russian sphere. Der Spiegel and The Economist have already got his number.

I will never vote for him...or McCain. After 30 years of activism, I will probably sit this one out....if Edwards is smart and doesn't endorse or campaign, I may write him in. He was my first choice....

Read Spengler in ATimes...this paragraph caught my eye:

http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Front_Page/JB26Aa01.html

"Both Obama and the American public should be very careful of what they wish for. As the horrible example of Obama's father shows, there is nothing worse for an embittered outsider manipulating the system from within than to achieve his goals - and nothing can be more terrible for the system. Even those who despise America for its blunders of the past few years should ask themselves whether the world will be a safer place if America retreats into a self-pitying shell."

377. You might "sit this one out"
But fortunately waves of new and inspired voters will show up and put our next great President into office. Such whining from so many people. It's pathetic. I don't have many posts but I have been visiting this site and these forums since 2004. I've never been so turned off as I am now. It is unbelievable that so many people are angry that a Democratic candidate is firing up so many people! It shows when Hillary says "Enough with the speeches and the big rallies." Ha! She's so angry, just like so many of her supporters on here, that Obama has established a movement that people are fired up about. That is selfish of her and selfish of you people who trash his supporters and the excitement that he has brought to the voters in this country.

Way to go...Obama supporters...and I do blame you for my inability

purple speech. I guess you could say, intimidation and false righteous
outrage over Drudge...DRUDGE, for Pita's sake...is all but laughable.

Listen to yourselves...on this thread and all over this site.

"everyone is excited about a Democratic candidate, but it's not MY Democratic candidate!"

Hillary and her supporters need to quit being such Selfish Shellfish and quit whining about positives like "big rallies." And that's all that it is at this point, whining that you're not getting your way. People are actually excited about politics and a Democratic candidate and you're all mad about it! C'mon. That's just lame.

392. Some people are bitter, selfish individuals
who can't quit whining because they're not getting their way. You, sir, are a prime example. You would rather your choice for the nominee win the nomination than have waves of new voters coming to the Democratic party because they're excited about a candidate.

Again, that is selfish and that is lame. The tantrums that Hillary has thrown recently are trickling down to her supporters, apparently. It's sad.

Please remove your head from your ass.

There is no way a 3rd party candidate will win - end of discussion. I cannot believe you would be ok with 4 years of another nut job republican than with a democrat who without a doubt is flawed (hell both of them are) but will have a better chance of getting some of the needed work done.

Your absolutely selfishness amazes me. You would rather see Katrina victims still out there without homes and not site of ever making it home. You would rather take away all chances of a woman to choose what is right with her own body. You would rather put a man who thinks we should be in Iraq for a billion trillion years instead of someone that perhaps will try to wrap things up in the next year. I would rather take a chance with Obama OR Clinton (mind you, I voted Biden - and that was AFTER he dropped out of the race) then to do ANYTHING that could feasibly allow a republican to stay in the white house.

You are a disappointment

420. You're seriously not getting it are you
If I want to support the perfect candidate perhaps I ought to run for office myself.

And as someone who lived in Pennsylvania for 30+ years don't you DARE think your vote is a throw-away. I've been working campaigns in Pennsylvania since the 80s. You think PA is a guarentee win you clearly know SHIT about Pennsylvania. If we're such a blue state then how did Rick Santorum not only win Pennsylvania but win it again a second time? BTW, did you know that Allegheny county received the most complaints to Michael Moore's election hotline he opened for the 2004 election? Do you know that 3 weeks before the general election in 2004, the republican party filed a suit to move over a dozen general election polling places in the city of Philadelphia over such things as 'not enough bathrooms', 'not enough parking' and 'handicap ramp not long enough'. Fortunately the suit was thrown out. In 2004 I worked a polling place in the Great Northeast of Philadelphia where Russian was a predominant language spoken. I handed out brochures for Allison Schwartz in languages I could not read. About every 20-30 minutes a couple of 'Russian Translaters' would show up that insisted they would go into the voting booth with the voter to help them 'vote'. Knowing that the democrats had nothing to do with this AND the fact that every voter was given out complete instructions in Russian that would help them read the candidates name - this was hardly a necessity. We had to keep a permament lawyer with our volunteer group that would get rid of this scum only to have a few more show up again. So yeah - we can just skip Pennsylvania - nothing to worry about here :sarcasm:

It saddens me you care so little for this country that you would enable someone like McCain. That's what you are doing and personally, your posts will be locked IMMEDIATELY if you try to promote this shit after the nomination is completed. So perhaps you should look for the "I'm dumb enough to think it's ok to have a republican for another 4 years in charge Underground"

And you're not gonna be able to ask African Americans and the young to back HRC in the fall if you get HRC nominated that way(especially since it's now clear that she's going to lose the overall primary vote and only be nominated by the supers and the tainted Florida/Michigan votes.)

It's not in HRC's interest to stay in the race. She needs to do the right thing, get out, and help us win. You are only helping McCain by posting shit like this. You should be ashamed.

And Obama has NEVER sided with the GOP.

Face it, everyone who votes for HRC now knows they are voting to lose the election. Why do something so stupid and pointless?

464. Checking in as an Obama supporter
The only "absolutely" that I care about is that Obama is absolutely going to win in 2008 and in 2012.

473. this has to be the greatest thread ever started for Barack Obama

Outstanding Go'bama
