Poll question: It's the General Election, and your candidate didn't win the Primary.. who are YOU voting for?
Alright.. pretend right now that it's November. You're preferred candidate (Clinton or Obama) did NOT win the primary - who are you going to vote for?

If you pick something other then choice #1.. please explain why you picked that as your choice!

1. I would write in Obama's name, I am not voting for Hill & Bill
I am voting for Obama, I voted for him in Maryland in the primary, I have sent him money, and I am on the Hope Train.

17. I'm a HUGE Obama fan.. but why do that to ourselves?
Do you think that McCain would be better then Hillary. Take her pathetic excuse for a campaign and all of the shenanigans out of the mix for 2 seconds. At least she'll aim (probably won't suceed) for universal health care. She'll certainly push judges that are far more left then McCain.

Or, are you not really a democrat - just like Obama (no slam on that, I know a lot of people voting for him are very central, so Hillary's positions are NOT necessarily well recieved).

Thanks

26. Listen to the jingle the rumble and roar - The Hope Train is roaring......
Hey listen to the jingle, hear the rumble, hear the roar
As she comes down the mountains, through the hills and by the shore
Hear the mighty rush of engine, hear the lonesome clinton call
Aaahhhhh! You're racing through the jungle on the Obama's Cannonball

You only need a simple plurality to win 100 percent of the electoral votes, even if the plurality goes as low as 35%.

6. Can't say for certain.
But if it comes a day when I am voting for Hillary after her shenanigans over the past week then I will say that this country is in a world of hurt. We would have had to have something really bad happen for me to cast that vote. Sorry, don't flame me. I'm just saying what I feel at this point. Keep in mind that I am a Kucinch fan and have had to reconstitute my thinking many times throughout this campaign.

so they can then Alert on them and get them tombstoned.

There have been several of these transparent threads today, and it is getting annoying.

11. If That is True, Then McCain Will Win by a Landslide
Our party is almost evenly divided. We can't win the half that loses the primary stays home.

Not only would we lose the Presidency by a landslide, we would lose Congress and some governorships too.

and frankly why would that be any worse then saying you support McCain?

I've seen quite a few people say that they understand Nader's point of view (i really don't - I think he's an egotistical ass myself, but that's just my opinion). Anyway.. i haven't seen anyone tombstoned over it.

13. The GE candidates are not final...
Edited on Sun Feb-24-08 02:04 PM by Florida22ndDistrict
1) There is no guarantee that the democrat candidate will be either of the two mentioned, due to their inability to unite the party and deliver a decisive win.

2) Ralph Nader has not won the Green Party nomination and is having a run for his money by Cynthia McKinney. There is no guarantee he will represent their party.

3) I'm sure there will be others running as well. Ron Paul may run as a Libertarian.

4) Unity08 may have a candidate on the ballot depending on what happens with their court case.

5) Bloonberg may run as an Independent

6) McCain, is about the only one in the poll that has come close to locking it up and he is not even certain until the convention.

Why not wait until you know who will be running in the general election to get an understanding of where people stand?

16. "Why not wait until you know who will be running in the general election to get an understanding
of where people stand?"

Right.. i'm just jumping off a cliff of complete uncertainty here.

1. Yeah.. there is no guarantee that Barack or Hillary will win the nominee - but i'd give it about a 95% certainty. I know people want Al Gore to just appear like god and "save" the democrats - but it's not happening. Frankly, at this point I don't think he'd be viewed as any better then the other two running by a majority. Obama people like Obama. Clinton people like Clinton. Throwing a 3rd person in who wasn't elected by either is a sure way to get people to stay home.

2. I don't believe my poll said anything about Nader winning the "Green Party" nomination - but he is RUNNING. The Republicans will make sure he is well funded to be on the ticket.

3. Ron Paul has not announced his bid, so he's not in this poll. Ironic that you accuse me of jumping the gun here, but yet you want me to put phantom players into the mix who aren't even out there yet.

#'s 4 & 5 - see response for number 3. I'm basing my poll on the information I have as of today. Don't worry - if other things transpire, i'm sure I or someone else will come up with a whole brand new poll!! WOW

6. McCain.. yes, he probably does have it locked up. Although I find it Ironic again that in your rantings about how horrible my poll is that you neglected to kick me on NOT including Huckabee... i mean, why not at this point, right? A "miracle" could still happen.. shame on me.

35. I'm not sure. It depends.
If it looks like there's a chance that the race could be tight here in Utah, I'll vote for the Democrat. But the odds of that happening are slim. If it does happen, I'll be looking up in the sky to see if pigs are flying. In 2004, Bush won 71.5% of the popular vote here.

I might vote for a third-party candidate if it looks like all of Utah's electoral votes are going to the Republicans again. My vote doesn't matter in the GE, so I vote my conscience since it's not like I'm actually hurting the Democrat.
