Congressman Pete Stark Endorses Dean
WASHINGTON--Congressman Pete Stark (CA) today endorsed Governor Dean, citing his multilateral foreign policy approach and his commitment to investing in children for America's future.

"Howard Dean is committed to negotiating peace throughout the world. He will once again remind Americans and the rest of the world that peace and prosperity can be achieved through active diplomacy and multinational collaboration," Congressman Stark said.

Since his election in 1973, Congressman Stark has represented California's Thirteenth District, which is located on the eastern shore of the San Francisco Bay and includes the communities of Alameda, Cherryland, Fremont, Hayward, Newark, San Leandro, San Lorenzo, Sunol, Union City, and parts of Oakland and Pleasanton. The District also includes part of the Port of Oakland, the fourth busiest shipping terminal in the United States.

Stark is a member of the Ways and Means committee and the ranking Democrat on the health subcommittee. He is also the Ranking Democrat on the Joint Economic Committee.

3. I am a huge fan of Pete Stark
I'll never forget the night he stood up agains the whole republican delegation when the rest of the democrat planned strategy in another room.
Pete Stark is a fighter and I am pleased as hell that he has endorsed Dean.

5. I remember Stark
He's the Congressman who called Scott McInnis a "fruitcake".

12. yes here is the story
This is the infamous Pete Stark that stated on the House floor...

"Let's not forget that our president, our commander in chief , has no experience with or knowledge of war. In fact, he admits that he was at best ambivalent about the Vietnam War. He skirted his own military service and then failed to serve out his time in the National Guard. And he reported years later that at the height of the conflict in 1968 he didn't notice, quote, "any heavy stuff going on." So we have a president who thinks foreign territory is the opponent's dugout and Kashmir is a sweater."

Moreover and more entertaining, it was the 72 year old Stark that shouted... "You think you are big enough to make me, you little wimp? Come on. Come over here and make me. I dare you. You little fruitcake. You little fruitcake. I said, you are a fruitcake."

7. Stark rocks!!
I caught him a couple of months ago one morning on CNBC. He was absolutely fabulous!! Called Bush a fascist! When they asked about the "recovery" he waves 'em off with "aw you're dreamin'!" Oh it was delightful.

I thought all those supply-sider Bush cheerleaders were gonna cry. It made my day.

Rock on Pete Stark!

9. He's very liberal
However, I don't like him. He has been rude to members of congress all the time. I don't care how much you hate Scott McInnis you can't insult him. There is supposed to be some civility in the House of Representatives and Stark doesn't help that.
