It's bad enough that Congress is full of spineless Democrats, I don't know what good it will do to have one in the White House as well.

1. possible reasons
1) Too busy campaigning.
2) Too spineless to take a stand, especially in the middle of an election.

5. O'Reilly
was spewing on his radio show today(shoot me for listening) and was saying Obama didn't vote for it. I hope somebody corrected him on what Obama voted for down there yesterday, but I doubt anybody did.

9. I say #1
They can't just take a trip to Washington D.C. to vote on a bill while they're in Texas and Wisconsin.

2. Once again, Obama voted on the amendments like the Dodd amendment.
Edited on Wed Feb-13-08 04:00 PM by Connie_Corleone
Obama was not in town when the final vote came up.

Hillary WAS in town when the amendments were voted on but she didn't show up to vote.

She was not in town when the final vote came up.

3. Well, Obama voted on everything except final passage. Final passage was lost anyway once cloture was
lost.

4. Obama voted for the Dodd/Feingold amendment to stop the telecom immunity
It went down in flames and Hillary was AWOL...even though she was in DC at the time.

7. No excuse for not taking a position on final passage of a bill like this.
(though at least Obama was around yesterday).

I sink futher into despair everyday as I become less impressed with both of them.

10. They should still have both turned up to vote on final passage
I don't care if it was a done deal. A vote on the floor of the Senate means more than any thing they say while campaigning.

11. Amen!
Obama and Clinton apologists are just too incredible for words. THEY ARE GODDAMN SENATORS - they need to show up for these votes no matter what. As my senator, I expect Clinton to be there to speak for me. If these two truly cared about the constitution and the future of this country, instead of the damn ambition, they would have shown up - for the final vote - not just the Dodd amendment.

12. Not enough fundraising opportunities and they have to be "tough on terror".
Or, more simply, "politics as usual".

13. Obama voted on the amendments which was where the real fight was.
However, I am not going to begrudge Hillary, Obama, or McCain -- they're running for president and are out campaigning. Unless, we are planning on forbidding senators from running for president, this is how it's going to be when the campaign heats up.

14. McCain was there
He did vote. I am betting that will come back to bite someone.

I am not impressed by our candidates no show.....It makes me start to question their principles. I would think a nay vote would make more of an impression in the future than a I just don't have the time vote...

15. uh, I'm pretty sure that
if there was a fundraiser to go to, both Obama and Clinton would have made it their business to be there. I guess we know what their priorities are.
