Isn't the Denver convention basically one giant caucus?

How can Hillary reasonably expect that party machine politics will save her at the Denver convention when the convention is essentially a giant caucus? We've seen time and again how, when Obama and Clinton supporters come together in caucuses, the former end up winning over the latter.

Any gambit Hillary wants to play in Denver- including seating the Michigan and Florida delegates - is going to have to be made in the context of a convention where the enthusiasm of Obama supporters will far outweigh the enthusiasm of their own. And conventions run on enthusiasm- there's no way the Democratic party can tell all those Obama supporters that their guy ran a good race and got the most pledged delegates, but they need to be quiet and let the party elites decide this thing. The place would absolutely erupt.

Conventions USED to be caucuses, but reforms in the 60's turned them into dog and pony shows, big propaganda/vacation opportunities. It took a crisis like Bush to turn the tables on the preprogrammed, top-down, corporate managers who would pick our candidates for us.
