Sen. Clinton is a class act.
Watching 60 Minutes today, I was once again so impressed with the class act that Sen. Hillary Clinton continues to show herself to be.

Katie Couric asked her if she likes Barack Obama. Sen. Clinton said that when she went to campaign and raise money for Barack Obama in 2004, she took a picture with him and his kids, and she still has that picture in her office today. So she said she looks at him and his children every day, when she's in her office. She stated that she was friends with him before the campaign, and she'll be friends with him afterward.

Such a class act. Contrast that with all the downright disgusting things Obama and his camp have said to and about her:

- "You're likeable enough." (Obama to Sen. Clinton)

- "The default candidate for Democrats in this race was always going to be Hillary Clinton because she's Hillary Clinton as opposed to Hillary Rodham." (Obama)

- "She's not really a phony, though she plays one on TV." (Obama surrogate Laurence Tribe)

- "Hillary Clinton (D-Punjab)" (Obama campaign memo, referring to Sen. Clinton)

- "Represents the same old thing over and over again." (Michelle Obama on Sen. Clinton)

I just want to applaud and stand up for Sen. Clinton, for being such a class act, even in the fact of downright disgusting comments about her, from Obama and his campaign.

There's a lesson for all of us in that.

health care debate? Because you do know, don't you, that the GOP ran those awful, misleading Harry and Louise ads against then First Lady Clinton when she was trying to implement health care reform.

In all of his most recent speeches he praises her as a friend, "far better than the status quo", and shows his respect for her as a coleague.

Don't forget what her campaign did before South Carolina. It was pure simple race-baiting.

53. No way, Frank Rich reveAls the opposite is true in the politic of Hillary
Edited on Mon Feb-11-08 12:38 AM by caligirl
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/10/opinion/10rich.html?_r=1&oref=slogin
Rich sets the background for the following excerpt by noting who is in the audience of the Hallmark tv segment Hillary paid for and which was oddly cut to resume regular programing. Then this :

"In her California primary victory, Mrs. Clinton drew only 19 percent of the black vote. The campaign saw this coming and so saw no percentage in bestowing precious minutes of prime-time television on African-American queries.

That time went instead to the Hispanic population that was still in play in Super Tuesday’s voting in the West. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa of Los Angeles had a cameo, and one of the satellite meetings was held in the National Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque. There’s nothing wrong with that. It’s smart politics, especially since Mr. Obama has been behind the curve in wooing this constituency.

But the wholesale substitution of Hispanics for blacks on the Hallmark show is tainted by a creepy racial back story. Last month a Hispanic pollster employed by the Clinton campaign pitted the two groups against each other by telling The New Yorker that Hispanic voters have “not shown a lot of willingness or affinity to support black candidates.” Mrs. Clinton then seconded the motion by telling Tim Russert in a debate that her pollster was “making a historical statement.”

It wasn’t an accurate statement, historical or otherwise. It was a lie, and a bigoted lie at that, given that it branded Hispanics, a group as heterogeneous as any other, as monolithic racists. As the columnist Gregory Rodriguez pointed out in The Los Angeles Times, all three black members of Congress in that city won in heavily Latino districts; black mayors as various as David Dinkins in New York in the 1980s and Ron Kirk in Dallas in the 1990s received more than 70 percent of the Hispanic vote. The real point of the Clinton campaign’s decision to sow misinformation and racial division, Mr. Rodriguez concluded, was to “undermine one of Obama’s central selling points, that he can build bridges and unite Americans of all types.”

If that was the intent, it didn’t work."

Hillary not only has my vote but my respect and admiration as well.
