RACINE — Mayor Gary Becker joined a growing list of Wisconsin Democrats who are supporting Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., in his run for president.
The Obama campaign announced that four mayors from southeast Wisconsin joined Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett in endorsing Obama. Citing Obama's commitment to bringing about the kind of change all Americans can believe in including investing in urban areas, Mayor Gary Becker of Racine, Mayor Larry Nelson of Waukesha, Mayor John Antaramian, and Mayor Michael Neitzke of Greenfield all endorsed Senator Obama.
"Barack Obama is a transformational person for this country," Becker said. "He is not just in this to win political battles, he is in this to make our country better. He knows how important investing in our cities is to making America strong."
In Washington Wisconsin Congressman Dave Obey is endorsing Obama for president.

Obey says he believes both Obama and New York Sen. Hillary Clinton would make "outstanding" presidents, but he believes the Illinois senator has the best chance of giving the country a new beginning.
Obama and Clinton are vying for the support of Wisconsin super-delegates such as Obey who could make a difference in the close race for the nomination. Super-delegates are not bound by primary results and may support any candidate they choose.
