2. Tie among white voters

"In the survey Obama led among African-American voters, while Clinton and Obama were evenly splitting the white vote in the survey."

Something tells me Hillary was an uphill battle in VA.

7. I think that will be the trend
Any place Obama has the time to become known to the voters, he pulls majorities almost across the board.

5. Actually, SUSA has called every single state perfectly
they haven't missed one where they've done polling.

18. Actually
They had MO going for Clinton, and AL a dead heat, among various others. But overall they have been more accurate than most other pollsters.

4. VA has my vote for "long time red state most likely to turn blue" if Obama is nominated
It has been trending blue in presidential elections, has a dem gov, a dem senator, and will have another dem senator come 08. A Dem hasn't won it since LBJ. 13 electoral votes, so Kerry states + VA + IA or NM = Dem president. We wouldn't even need OH or FL.

16. Also remember that we MAY be able to get a fair Ohio as we won in 2006
and there is a Democratic Secretary of State instead of Blackwell. We may just need the states Kerry did win plus Ohio, where he likely would have won a fair race. (Not to mention - neither candidate will be an incumbent President.)

8. That's big.
Virginia is one where she needs to be competitive.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/2/6/123959/6127/416/451126

After February 12th - from kos blog
'let's pause here to note that Obama is strongly favored to win four of the next seven contests, and narrowly favored to win the remaining three. An Obama sweep of all seven contests is not unlikely. In order for Clinton to have much chance in the following contests, she will have had to win somewhere, whether it be Washington on the 9th, Maine on the 10th, or Virginia on the 12th. For the purposes of this analysis, I will assume she has avoided a shut-out and still has some viability.'

10. Please don't put any stock in this. The polls have been tragically wrong--
we need to lower expectations.

I could not stand it if my state gave the majority our delegates to that witch! In fact, it makes me ill that she will get any of them. I came into the race feeling torn between Obama and Clinton (mainly because of Bill) but now I absolutely can't stand her!

Edited on Fri Feb-08-08 10:17 AM by theboss
If he manages a sweep of the Potomac Primary, he will be able to coast into March - where things should get tough again.

20. Obama was only up 17% in California polls
And that worked out so well, didn't it?

But I suppose we have another two or three weeks of gloating to get through.

23. Survey USA
I no longer doudt any polls from them after seeing the results on Super tuesday.Yes I can admit to being wrong. They were wrong on Missouri, and Alambama, and In some states Obama lost less to Hillary In her states than polls suggest however If they have him up 17 In Virginia that Is a good sign.
It shows Obama getting early support from Tim Kaine was good for him.

27. If Virginia is using Diebold machines... knock 5% off of Obama's lead...
...in every state so far that uses Diebold touch screen machines, Obama's total has averaged 5% less than the exit polls indicated in that state.

In states that use predominantly paper voting and caucus states, his totals have been spot on.

Just sayin'......

28. I'll believe it when I see it. I'm beginning to think the pollsters are friends of the Clintons.
Setting expectations low so she can come close or win. Sarcasm of course, but the polling is an odd trend.
