Lieberman No Longer a Super Delegate
Thanks to Zell Miller, there is a rule to deal with Joe Lieberman.

Lieberman's endorsement of Republican John McCain disqualifies him as a super-delegate to the Democratic National Convention under what is informally known as the Zell Miller rule, according to Democratic State Chairwoman Nancy DiNardo.

Miller, then a Democratic senator from Georgia, not only endorsed Republican George Bush four years ago, but he delivered a vitriolic attack on Democrat John Kerry at the Republican National Convention.

The Democrats responded with a rule disqualifying any Democrat who crosses the aisle from being a super delegate. Lieberman will not be replaced, DiNardo said.

4. Is Bernie Sanders a super delegate?
I don't get why Lieberman would be a super delegate even if he hadn't endorsed John McCain. Lieberman is a member of the "Connecticut for Lieberman" Party.

14. Yes, I think so. The dem party in VT endorsed him and didn't
run anyone against him. The DNC also endorsed him. I'm quite certain he is.

23. Thanks.
Apparenlty, Bernie Sanders isn't a super delegate.

Lieberman shouldn't have been one in the first place, either.

But I'll settle for this, for now.

13. Agreed ...
But he does make one wish for the old dueling system to be put back in place under certain circumstances.

But then again, once challenged, he'd never show up anyway. Lieberman only displays the 'courage of his convictions' when there's something in it for him personally, like money or political power, rather than the potential for sudden death.

I think Lieberman would rather be a Senator than a VP.

I can't wait until 09 when we strip him of every Committee.......put him on sub-committees only and in the back of the room, in a corner.

Whatever is the most low level committe...let him be on it.

If they were going to do that they would have done that already. Reid isn't going to take anything from him.

25. Good - he's the reason Florida was so botched in 2000
After he announced that military votes should be counted even if they were mailed in AFTER election day. I'm all for military voting, I was in the military in 2000, but the rules were clear that they needed to be postmarked by a certain date. He's pathetic.

Technically, Lieberman is not a Democrat, but the sole Senator representing the Connecticut For Lieberman party.

35. Lieberman is not a member of the Connecticut for Lieberman Party
He never changed his party registration. In fact, he moved within Connecticut and registered at his new address as a Democrat. He's still a registered member of the Democratic Party in Connecticut.

I would guess that Bernie Sanders, although he caucuses with the Democrats, is not a registered Democrat, so their situations are different.

Are you entitled to superdelegate status if you're a registered Democrat but you got elected on another party's line, beating the Democratic nominee? I don't know what the rule is, but now no one will have to bother figuring it out.
