1. Has Been

When will somebody tell this idiot to face facts and get the hell out of this campaign. I know he has a right to run. What sets me off is the innocent people that think that he has their interest at heart.
He only cares about one person, Ralph Nader.

Does someone have a bio on Ralphie,I saw him on TV last week and he is talking the same stuff, boring as before.

2. This is Democratic Underground?
I swear I do not understand the logic of a site created after Gore lost helping the next Democratic President to lose.

3. I wanted to see where states' numbers are and how it can be protested

It's good to know what the enemy is up to and what they need to have done to get on the ballot.

I call Nader an enemy because he certainly is acting like one.

4. He was not even on the ballot in NC last time - so he had to know he could
not win. I guess he was just happy to get the attention and to know that HE had the POWER to put Bush in office.

He seems to have so much fun that he wants to do it again.

9. He could do well* in Colorado, Vermont, Washington and Florida
Edited on Sun Mar-07-04 09:56 PM by zulchzulu
Since those states don't require signatures or are fairly easy to make it on the ballot, he can take a bite out of the vote in those states. Not a lot, but enough to skew the votes that would go to Kerry.

I guess the more he's on TV doing interviews and getting free press, the more he'll be visible. I'm sure Fox News would love to have him on a lot to talk about how evil the World is and to get his face out there.

*Doing well means getting 3-5% of the vote

10. The last two you just mentioned scare me
Washington is close to being a swing state, and Florida is a problem, for very obvious reasons.

11. I'm not worried about Nader getting on the ballot in some states
Some states would be pretty difficult for Nader to get enough signatures in time. But the ones where he could get on easily (Washington state) and already on the ballot in Florida raise some issues.

Nader will be marginalized, but if the campaign gets really dirty (like it will), some voters might be turned off by the process and end up voting for Nader...

7. NC data is wrong
I have talked to the Nader people several times and pointed out to them that the numbers they are posting for us is to start a new political party. To get the ballot as an independent, you have to have 100,000 valid signatures. The North Carolina Green Party has polled our membership and 80% of those who responded said they would not support a Nader independent run. So, if we get ballot access he is not glomming onto our line.

8. Nader has to deal with other factors to get his name on the ballot
1) Time to obtain the signatures - There is a beginning date and ending date.

2) It looks like he also has to declare a running mate by a certain date depending on each state requirement.

We should keep an eye on the states that he does manage to qualify to get on the ballot.

Maybe even help get his name on the ballot of those states that are not likely to vote Democratic.

16. Nader on Florida ballot? As a New York expatriate
I'd think that would be legally challengeable.

I doubt it'd be worth the effort, however. There were a lot of protest votes in 2000 when the case was made there was no effective difference between Gore and Bush.

That uncertainty doesn't exist in 2004.

Nader is a sad example of someone hanging around long after his date went home with another guy. He should sit down and shut up.
