Comparing Polls with Outcomes
Pretty interesting to look at pollster.com and compare state by state with what is happening tonight. In only two or so states did Obama surge (CT and MN), but in many of the others, his performance dropped dramatically from polls taken over the past week (like NJ, MA). From the media's portrayal, I was fully expecting an Obama sweep of most states, with a high surge showing up in nearly every state. NOT SO. Clinton has solid, decent representation even most of the states she lost, which is why, when you look at CNN's delegate counter, she is getting nearly as many delegates as Obama, and in some case more, even in the states she lost. Look at Illinois vs. Arkansas--interesting, in that I would've expected Obama's numbers to be higher in IL, his own state.

Don't believe the media. Great reality check about what the people of the U.S. are really thinking and feeling.

Even on CSPAN, a woman called in and said she wondered when the media was going to start offering balanced coverage, that every time she turns on her TV, all she sees is Obama, Obama, Obama. The woman who responded to her said, "Who did you vote for?" Even after studies have demonstrated this media bias! And then went on to say people were complaining about how much coverage Clinton got early last year. Early last year? A YEAR before the primaries, when the media can't influence the outcome? Give me a break. And this was CSPAN!!

in the general. In this case, that would be Barack Obama.

It's reassuring to see that they couldn't manipulate the American electorate as well as they expected.

Now where's that :fuck you: smilie?

2. In MA, there were two recent polls. SUSA was in fact right on, Suffolk wrong.

(I generally ignore Zogby, who tends to be wrong for state polls).

If you were expecting an Obama sweep, you were not paying attention.
