Barack Says: Make A Call!
Tomorrow, 22 states across the country are holding Democratic caucuses and primaries.

You can help Get Out The Vote in these crucial contests by calling fellow supporters from your own home.

Use our online calling tool and make a difference today:

http://my.barackobama.com/feb5calls

When Michelle and I talked about my running for president, one of the core goals we both had for this campaign was to leave the political process better off than we found it.

You have challenged conventional thinking and built a grassroots movement for change that is sweeping this country.

I have no doubt that the election tomorrow will be close, but you can help ensure that as many people as possible participate.

Make calls using our online calling tool and help Get Out The Vote:

I believe that this movement for change can do more than just win an election. Together, we can transform this country.

Thank you for being part of this,

Barack

4. You can call and post and everything
It is so cool. This is even easier than it was in 2004. I love it!

2. I started calling this morning at 11 a.m. and will stop at 9 p.m. Its a blast !! No one
has hung up on me yet, and everyone has been very excited to talk to a REAL person, not a robocall. Speaking of which, I got robo'd by Hill AND Bill today in TN. Barack has boots/callers on the ground :-)

Much more productive and meaningful than fighting a fight here that no one sees or cares about, IMO :woohoo:

5. Wow. Where are you calling?
People in California are getting sick and tired of us.

I won't be calling tonight. I'm leaving tomorrow morning at 8am to GOTV in Jersey. Canvassing is exhausting so I have to turn in early, lol.

8. I called TN in 2004
I had the funniest call from this older southern woman, talking about Bush...

"I just don't think that man is smart."

I about died laughing.

I love calling Tennessee, very nice people and a very common sense approach to politics.

6. Agreed!
My phones are charged up, and then my free minutes start in 2 hours. It's so fun to talk to people from different parts of the country. Oregon has no primary until May, so I love doing this.

10. Questions...
Is there a script?

Are the calls to people who have indicated support for Obama, or general Democratic voters?

I am curious if it involves stating a case to vote Obama or just encouraging confirmed Obama voters to GOTV.

Any details would be appreciated... by PM if you prefer.

The reason I ask these questions is that I am a recent addition to the Obama camp, so I am not sure I would be too confident being persuasive, as opposed to just calling to make sure known Obama leaners go to the polls.

11. Happy to answer
This is so incredibly easy. There is a detailed script. It goes something like..

My name is ... and I support Barack Obama...bla bla.. Have you decided who you are voting for tomorrow?

Then you click a button yes or no, based on their answer.

And there is the response they want you to give from there.

From what I know from past phone banking right before the election, they're shoring up their numbers that they have been counting all year. These should be firm Obama supporters and people who just need to be encouraged to vote.

I wouldn't worry about the whole script, the most important thing is getting these answer into the campaign so they can keep track of any last minute movement.

It is SO EASY, I can't tell you. And just remember, a flubbed call isn't going to make a difference one way or the other. People who don't receive ANY call just might dismiss voting altogether. Most people are thrilled to hear from you.

12. Thanks for the response.
I may look into making some calls in the morning.

I did this for Dean before, but I had been active in the campaign for months by that time, so it was like second nature to me. It's a bit different to think about calling when you are just getting involved!

Tomorrow will be an exciting day, no doubt!

13. Oh you should definitely check it out
Even if you decide not to do the calling, you've got to sign up to see how far online activism has come since 2003. I used to get excel spreadsheets in the email in 2004, for Kerry. You are going to be STUNNED when you see what they've got set up now.

Whichever campaign you were involved with then...

Look What We Did!!!

Oh YES WE CAN.
