Anyone getting weary of all the whining 'round here?
So Kerry won and your candidate lost - join some 12 step program and deal with it, the way I see it you can either support Kerry our eventual nominee or depending on whether or not you've been on this planet the past 4 years, vote for Bush and Nader.

Either way quit the whining.

My candidate lost, so now I'm 100% for Senator Kerry as all of us should be. Certainly we are all for getting rid of bush; the voters have decided Senator Kerry is the man to do it, so get onboard.

4. God yes!
Everyone needs to get a clue from the candidates themselves...Edwards, Dean, Gephardt, Braun all bowed out graciously and are rallying behind the nominee. Did anyone ever watch these guys after the debates when the credits rolled? They all shook each others hands, laughed and talked amicably to each other, even after disagreeing vehemently on some issues during the debate. It's all part of the process! Keep your eyes on the prize gang! The point is to get a guy INTO the White House who just may listen to you on your issues.

immature political virgins so let them learn to take their lumps, lose their first primary and learn to grow your thick skin. Quit picking their scabs. Ignore their threads if you do not like them. I have never seen such intolerant behavior from the "big, mature boys and girls" here. Give them a break already. This does not lend to inclusiveness.

who think they know it all but haven't a clue. I'm at the point of telling them to sit down, shut up and let the folks that know what they're doing do their jobs. These folks just might learn something.

28. What arrogance
Yeah, the 'grownups' way of doing things -- which is by all accounts the way they've done things since time immemorial -- has really netted us some real improvements since the DLC took over, hasn't it?

Closer to one party (corporate) rule
Consolidation of media to further facilitate one party (corporate) rule
Wars for empire / natural resources

Yeah, you grownups have a lot to be proud of. Thanks so much for ensuring there was something left of the constitution to defend after 12 sorry years of leadership from centrists.

It isn't just about marketing. If people didn't stand up for what they believed in, we'd still be ruled by Kings.

44. Yes, I do.
Bush* got 50 million votes, and it wasn't because the media told them how to vote. If the message being pushed by the fringe had any truth to it, they'd be able to get more support. No Dem is going to win the election by pursuing the tactics of those who have lost.

46. Surprisingly, you missed my point
Abolition, Suffrage, Equal Rights

when were these popular before they became law? If people didn't "whine" and buck the system, we wouldn't have gotten anywhere in this country. Things change, rarely because of the courage of leaders, more often because of the courage of the few who aren't willing to put up with the tyranny of those in power.

We will win this election. We all know how important it is.

However, lecturing those who would speak out in this party about how to behave, or demeaning progressive politics is idiotic at best, and yet remarkably prevalent. The base of the party is rapidly approaching the boiling point. Good luck with that.

17. Yes there is a good
amount of whining going on, it is to be expected from those who worked very hard and lost so please show them some sympathy like big boys and girls would. Some of us still have much work to do with our candidate even if winning is not possible. It has become increasingly difficult to do that here because of the few posters who just HAVE to go in and beat everybody up and bully. That causes a lot of hard feelings. Please let us finish our work without the constant disruption and attempts to belittle us. Not you, but there are several who must enter all of our threads. We want the opportunity to do what citzenship allows and good citizenship demands without having to defend ourselves at every turn. When we are done most of us will give you all the time you so seem to need.

27. I think Edwards' supporters have fresh wounds and we should be under-
standing of how they feel. They just got the news two days ago! Give them time to grieve, for crissakes!

However, the few but very vocally whiny Dean people need to let it go...he's out and no amount of venom or tears is going to change that.

Kucinich is still in, and until he bows out, everyone needs to shut up about his supporters. We don't need to minimize Kucinich's candidacy just because Kerry appears to be the nominee.

Sharpton is still in, too, and I appreciate him promoting racial awareness.

Clark folks who are still whining need to button it up--however, most of Clark folks have committed themselves to ABB--and to Kerry.

35. If we were all nothing but cheerleaders
nothing would ever get done. If you want Democratic Underground to be nothing but cheerleading for Kerry - there is probably a better place for you to go... www.johnkerry.com. As has been said ad nauseum, most of us intend to vote for John Kerry. Many of us do it happily, others, not so much. But this isn't a place for just cheerleading - it is a place for discussion, whiny or not, about the issues we care about, and think the party should care about as well.

We are supposed to be a big tent party. If you'd like to fold that tent, I'm sure there are others that agree with the "sitdown, shut up, and behave" theory that would gladly support your vision. But that's not what this party is about. Never haas been, and the day it is, is the day I, and many others will leave.

We don't need lectures about grown-up behavior. We've seen it in spades on the national level. We know all about making grown up decisions, being sad, happy, magnanimous and enraged. We go through it all the time because of politics. That's why we are here, that's why our voices chime in whether you like them or not.

For once, it would be appreciated if some of you who think you know best would shut up and listen.

38. I have no problem
with people being disappointed that their guy lost. I was, too. That's natural.

But when they turn that disappointment around and use it as justification to make baseless attacks against the nominee, then it's over the line and should stop.

Somebody actually argued last night that the DNC shouldn't have sent a fundraising email out yesterday that mentions Kerry because Kucinich and Sharpton are still in the race. I think that's insane. We have to get on with the serious business of defeating Bush. We have a nominee. He is John Kerry. For those who want to complain that "we don't have a nominee until July", I call bullshit. We have one now. It would be suicide to wait until July before starting the campaign against Bush. Their campaign against Kerry has already begun.
