As an Edwards supporter, I hope all of us vote Democratic in the main election...
I absolutely hate seeing Edwards suspend his campaign. I hate it. I am pretty much a true believer in the man. Compared to Edwards, I don't want to see anyone in the White House, except Al Gore. However, neither is going to happen, and that leaves us with four options.

Obama
Clinton
Write in Edwards
Just don't vote

I think that the fourth option shouldn't be one for anybody. Do what you want, but skipping out on this election would mean that you helped contribute to a Republican victory (if that happens). Our candidate has told us to look long and hard at the other two candidates, but it's pretty clear he wants us to choose one of them and vote. You may feel that the third option is the honorable one - and if you do, so do I - but it's not the one John Edwards is asking us to take. So that leaves Obama and Clinton.

I said in a previous post tonight that I was going to vote for Edwards on Tuesday anyway, but after watching Edwards' speech and what he asked, I will have to take a long look at both candidates before doing so. If I find that one of them is a candidate whom I really don't like, I'm going to have to vote for the other instead of Edwards. I sure won't vote for anyone besides Edwards, but I might vote against someone else.

That said, even if the candidate whom I really don't like gets the nomination in the fall... well, there's relative degrees of dislike. Would I like to have a fingernail torn off? No, I would dislike that a lot. But I'd like it a hell of a lot compared to a sliced femoral artery. And you guessed it: another 4 Republican years would be like a sliced femoral artery for the nation - lots of bleeding, of both the literal and metaphorical kinds, and potentially fatal.

Like I said, do what you want. I just felt like saying this.

1. I am voting for a Democrat for president.
At this point that could be Flipper, for all I care.

3. I will vote against the Republican in the upcoming election.
It has to be done. At the very least we should get sensible Supreme Court nominees. We need a hard shift to the left just to get the political pendulum back to center and I do not believe either of the two remaining candidates will go that way. But I believe they will at least halt the momentum. With the two party system it's basically "get raped" or "be seduced", either way you get fucked.

4. I'm going the other extreme, from Edwards 'High Road' to...
Hillary's 'low road'. McCain will be coming on with his Rovian neo-con machine, so I might as well go with the meanest bunch. Besides, Hillary has apparently ignited the female vote, (57% turnout) so will be hard to stop. And best of all, 'Big Dawg' will be unleashed!

5. Agreed & Well Said
I'm a DK guy and will vote for the Dem nominee whoever they are. These are not my first choice, but this is part of our election process, perhaps not too well organized, perhaps unfair along the way, but the best we got right now and you play the cards you are dealt.
There are things we can do such as being informed, continuing to write our Congressmen & Senators, contributing to the re-election (if we can) of those who we see as progressive and continuing to discuss the issues (as opposed to the personalities) and perhaps being respectful of those with whom we disagree (even Republicans). It is time to rally round the nominee, get the best deal we can and continue to push for what we want. Our process is about compromise and many of us will have to compromise on the nominee, but that's the way it goes.

6. If Obama ends up not faring well on Tuesday night, I'll drown my sorrows...
Then wake up the next morning and start preparing to support Hillary. That senile asshole McCain isn't getting anywhere near the White House if I have anything to say about it.
