Poll question: Most surprising campaign of primaries 2004?
Edited on Wed Mar-03-04 08:01 PM by Feanorcurufinwe
Whether it's that one-time shocker or an overall impression, or anyway that you want to put it, which campaign surprised you the most?

1. Kerry, but I can't decide why
I'm not sure if I'm more surprised by is initial downfall, or his comeback.

2. I voted Clark.
Think about it.

No real political connections.

Came out of nowhere to be a viable candidate, and actually won one state. Pretty impressive, actually.

3. Clark, because when I quipped to my husband about him making a good Prez
while watching his commentary on CNN.... I never DREAMED he would actually run.

I never got that involved with any campaign before the general. I never really believed in anyone before him and I still believe in him. It was an exhilarating, wonderful, heart-wrenching experience and for the first time in my life I really understand the old thing about it's better to have loved and lost. I'm glad I went through it and I hope to support the general in the future as well.

4. dean, but
the connection between sharpton and the rethugs could count as a bigger surprise. it's hard to be that kind of surprised these days, tho.

5. Clark surprised me because I know how politics works, and
his campaign was like nothing I've ever seen before.

A bigger surprise would have been if he won, but I'll settle for what I can get.

6. I voted Kerry
I voted Clark in the VA primary, btw.

I had written off Kerry sometime around November... that's what I get for listening to media predictions.

7. I bet almost no one here knew how great a speaker Sharpton was,
before this campaign started. I sure didn't. Even if he does accept a bit of money here & there from the occasional RW operative, he is unbelievably skilled at providing powerful, witty, far-reaching responses in 60-second-sized bites. He did respectably well in a handful of states, too.

8. I was, and still am, shocked by Kerry's comeback.
It had become a daily fixture of mine to write him off, and now he's the nominee. It's a strange world out there.

9. picked Dean
can't believe people would throw good money after bad they way they did. It was obvious in the summer or certainly the fall that the guy was headed for collapse.
