AJC: Obama addresses Baptists, says Clinton "evoked a lot of passion among women"
Clinton has ‘evoked a lot of passion’ among women, Obama says
Wednesday, January 30, 2008, 03:48 PM

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

...(Obama) acknowledged that, with John Edwards now out of the race, Democrats are poised to make history whoever wins the nomination. He credited Clinton with “evoking a lot of passion among women.”

Obama tried to strike a chord with the religious group, many of whom are pastors, by reminding them of his beginnings as a young attorney, working with churches on Chicago’s south side.

“Pastors are pushing this movement forward. I need each and everyone of you in the fight,” Obama said....

3. Gotta get those pastors to reign in those uppity women.
:sarcasm:

I'm not even going to say the obvious. If Bill Clinton's MLK snooze is racist, then I'd say this is sexist. But then again, sexism is no real taboo in America.

4. "evoking a lot of passion among women" How is that not sexist?
Oh, I know the answer - the press won't call it out and Obama supporters will just instruct us that it is not sexist.

Never mine.

7. Might be a little sexist especially given the audience
It did make me think of Bush's great quote, "Too many good docs are getting out of business. Too many OB/GYNs aren't able to practice their love with women all across this country."

8. and invoking Jesse Jackson had no intention of stoking racism?
at the most it sounds like Obama MAY (have to read the whole thing in context) be tossing the Clinton's garbage back at them.

But perhaps not.

Context...

9. Now she's the woman's candidate, right BHO? Of course Saint Obama won't get any
flak for this. But saying she evokes passion among women, he's trying to minimize her support and implying she doesn't have the support of men.

11. Yep - I have been waiting for him to get this going.
His National Co-Chairman did a nasty sexist attack on Hillary two days after N.H. However, the Clinton camp never uttered a word about it and the press didn't report. The reason the press didn't report is because the Clinton camp didn't flog it to death like Axelrod and Obama did on the faux racist outrage.

Frankly, I don't think the Clinton camp will go after this. They don't want to see a complete split in the party. In other words, Hillary is actually a Democrat.

Sorry, Hillary supporters. The headline was too ambiguously juicy. Just making a joke.
