Poll question: Which Of The Following Five Possible Scenarios Would Cause DU To Explode More...
Imagine the following five scenarios that could occur...

1. Hillary wins Super Tuesday and cruises to the nomination.
2. Obama wins Super Tuesday and cruises to the nomination.
3. Neither has enough delegates at the end and it goes to a brokered convention where a third candidate is chosen.
4. Obama leads Clinton, but is just short of the number of delegates to win, but the superdelegates throw it to Clinton.
5. Clinton leads Obama, but is just short of the number of delegates to win, but the superdelegates throw it to Obama.

What scenario is more likely to toss DU into chaos and potentially fracture the party?

11. oh lioness, it breaks my heart that you support clinton...
but i still love you :P
i think if hillary was set to win outright, then by the time the convention rolled around, the bitterness would mostly have faded and we'd be getting around to remembering that there are republicans in this race too.
if it were the other way around, and the superdelegates snatched victory from under obama's nose...i think it would create ugly and permanant divisions in DU to the point where i think there would be granite pizza's popping up like crazy...
then people would come to their senses and realize we have republicans to worry about.

2. Right now, it's hard to image any scenario that wouldn't make this place go nuclear.

6. well
with two candidates left, some of your scenarios are very unlikely.

One of the two will have the nomination locked up well before the convention.

7. Agreed. WIth only two candidates, a brokered convention is all but impossible. n/t

10. Unless John Edwards' 26 delegates
aren't released and it's THAT close. But that's practically impossible.

12. You're right, but...
like you said, practically impossible. Might as well discuss what to do if the sun doesn't rise tomorrow. :P

8. I have some HORRIBLE "REALITY NEWS" for you--whatever happens on the road to the nomination,
the PARTY will not be FRACTURED. This is a small subset of the left wing of the party here, by and large. The centrists and moderates get crapped on regularly, and the conservative Democrats are scared shitless to say too much for fear they'll be piled on like mad.

Some fucking 'operatives' and trolls who have shown up here solely to incite argument, flak for their candidate, and foment discontent might suddenly find other things to do, but if you think there will be any "chaos" here and that it will "fracture the party" well, you're high.

The first scenario will cause a week or two of WAAAAAAAAAH!/ I'm taking my ball and going HOME!!!! /Fuck it I'm voting for NADER!!! type whining, and then, the people who can't be Democrats anymore because their choice wasn't selected will drift off to other locations.

And that's just hunky dory.

15. Hillary getting the nomination by superdelegates
But it would go beyond DU. If she won the election, she would probably be considered illegimate by over half the population. Just like Dumbya was, only the other half. And while there might be some humor in that, it doesn't do anybody any good to have half the country thinking the government is illegit at any time. Isn't that how the civil war started?
