Poll question: Could you live with all of the following tickets?
Edited on Wed Mar-03-04 08:58 AM by Mattforclark
Kerry/Bayh
Kerry/Clark
Kerry/Edwards
Kerry/Gephardt
Kerry/Graham
Kerry/Richardson

Not necessarily whether you like them. Whether you can stop yourself from jumping up and down, tearing at your hair, on one leg.

1. Do I really have a choice?
I won't suicide over whatever I get stuck with.

3. Bayh is a blow-dried DLC poser-boy...
...who has never taken a principled stand on anything.

11. Anyone but Bayh.
This was an historic primary season, and dammit, the coveted Veep Slot should not be given to a senator who sat out the election, and who does very, very little for the people of Indiana.

We already have one unworthy favorite son in the White House. I adored his father, but Evan Bayh is unworthy.

12. case in point.... when many dems in the state
Edited on Wed Mar-03-04 10:16 AM by salin
respect republican senator Lugar, more... but will vote for Bayh over the usual suspects (the types put up by today's hoosier gop)... it doesn't bode well for strong selling power in terms of tipping this very red state (at the top of the ticket) to blue.

4. No.
Bayh....waaaaaaay too conservative.

Edwards........still thinks we were/are right to illegally, unilaterally and pre-emptively attack Iraq.

All the others I could live with.....especially Clark.

Then Graham, then Richardson, then Gephardt....in that order.

right. Ever.

However I think Graham would be a million times smarter than Clark or Edwards vp ticket, despite the fact that I was an Edwards, then Clark, then Edwards supporter

10. Yes he did....... MTP........
MR. RUSSERT: The French were saying at the time of the vote in the United Nations “Let’s give inspections a few more months, and if you, Mr. President Bush, do that, we will then go along with you, ultimately, in fact, if Saddam does not cooperate.” In hindsight should the president have gone along with the French and allowed inspections to continue?

SEN. EDWARDS: Well, we don’t—those of us who have responsibility for making these enormously important decisions, we don’t have the benefit of hindsight. I mean, that’s a great luxury, looking back now. I did what I thought was right at the time. I still believe it was right. We’ve had almost 400 young Americans lose their lives in a cause that I think is important. Saddam Hussein is gone. That region of the world, if we pursue the right policy, can be much more stable than it was before he came there. And I will not say to the mothers and fathers of those young men and women who lost their lives that it wasn’t important because I think it was enormously important, and I think they deserve to know that.

13. And AT THAT SAME TIME, he called for a multilateral approach.
Bombtrack is right.

Oh, how I will NOT miss the Edwards smears and misinterpretations here.

7. all but Bayh... we would be more likely to lose with him on the ticket
hoosier voters are more probush than probayh. He wouldn't bring any electoral votes - in a race that is perceived to be a tossup along the lines of 2000.

To guage bush's popularity, just look at the impact he had on the 2002 race for Congress for Rep Chocola (a net loss, from retired dem Roemer). And the huge turnouts and money generation for his multiple visits to Indy to promote his "Man Mitch" for the governors race. Bayh does not garner that much money raising power/weight.

There are not enough similarities to our neighboring states (Michigan, Illinois, Ohio and Kentucky) where Illinois and Michigan are likely D - to pull Ohio or Kentucky over with electoral votes.

So no net gain when a gain is needed.

Clark, Gephardt, and Graham (my fav.) would each be very strong.

Edwards would be good, but two senators on a ticket may not be the strongest way to go (the exception above to Graham - is his two terms as Floridian Governor).

Don't know much about Richardson, except I hear here at DU that he has expressed interest in NOT running as VP.

8. I defer to others' dislike of Bayh
and Gephardt is practically a poster boy for everything wrong with our party. I could live with the others.

Just a crazy thought---do we have anybody in this party other than White Men?

15. Yes...Carol Mosley Braun
would be an excellent choice, and she was extremely classy in the way she handled herself during the campaign.

17. Yes!

I think Graham would be the strongest pick. Richardson maybe but he has pretty much categorically said he won't take the job.

If Kerry chooses Bayh for Veep, I won't blame people for voting Nader.
