It is to Kerry's advantage to keep the democratic race going
I have to agree with Pat Buchanan on Hardball. He said this was Kerry's "peak" at least until the convention or whenever he chooses a VP. There will probably be no more big Tuesday night speeches before crowds followed by Wed newspaper headlines.

The reason Bush has dropped in approval ratings in the last month and half is due to the spirited Democratic race. Issues are being discussed and Democrats are excited about the election. The pundits speak about how much Democrats are angry at Bush.

The primary season has benefitted the Democratic party and the eventual nominee. Now with Edwards out you know the media doesn't give a damn about reporting on Kucinich or Sharpton and it is doubtful that Kerry will even debate them. Bush is going to begin his huge media buy and the power of the incumbency will begin to control events one way or another.

It is a shame that Edwards is dropping out and not going on to Texas or that Dean even suspended his campaign because both of these gentlemen along with DK and Sharpton kept the debate alive and by doing so were strengthening the party and helping to keep the limelight on Bush's shortcomings and now without any real contest watch I'll bet turnout in upcoming primaries and caucuses will drop off as might enthusiasm.

In retrospect it is a shame the contest is not going up until the convention.

1. No. The reason Bush has dropped in the polls is the David Kay
revelations about no WMD, revealing the emptiness of the war rationale. The Dem primaries have helped this process along. But I do agree that it is to Kerry's advantage to keep the primaries going although it looks pretty much over now.
