ANyone hear Joe Scarborough going on and on about Obama tonight?
This is the second time I've heard him express amazement over an Obama speech.
He said that, every time Obama is speaking on TV, his (Scarborough's) Blackberry starts buzzing all over the place
with emails from friends, mostly conservative Republicans (!), who are saying, in essence, "We believe him."

What a statement, considering the source!

6. He wants the Republics to keep the White House.
That will happen if Obama gets the nomination. This is so obvious is ridiculous.

12. He knows the Republicans are irrelevant in the next election.
His Blackberry story is similar to anecdotes I've heard in many other places about Obama's appeal.

8. When will you folks get it. His ilk is scared shitless that Hillary will
get the nomination. He knows damn well, Obama will not be elected President. The MSM will make sure of that once Hillary is out of the way.

11. Obama is the most impressive campaign speaker we've had since JFK
Even Reagan couldnt match the enthusiasm that an Obama speech can foster in anyone watching.

I think thats what Scarborough is relating to.

I know he's not alone, a great many no longer Bush supporting Republicans want to be able to vote for Obama in November.

14. Obama has an intangible quality that is very rare; it transcends political party.
What people are responding to is his ability make us think of ourselves as Americans; not Democrats, Republicans, or whatever.

26. Absolutely. Well put.
And it just that quality that makes him a better bet for the general.

Hillary has sort of the opposite effect. She makes people want to punch her.

13. Looking beyond the speeches,
Edited on Sat Jan-26-08 10:42 PM by MetricSystem
how will these Republicans react when President Obama starts implementing a progressive agenda? Does this mean that all along we could have gotten along with Republicans if we just had the right messenger? Will stem-cell research, civil unions for gays, abortion rights, etc., etc. now be accepted by those on the right?

17. here's what he said during bill clinton's post election speech:
(written earlier, so the time reference is off)

I was just watching MSNBC’s SC primary coverage on free-to-air satellite (this is network feeds, public stations, foreign stations, etc.) , while bill clinton was making a statement. During this statement the camera was on joe scarborough; his microphone was on so you could hear him talking at the same time as clinton was speaking; you could also see that contempt on his face. He was saying something along the lines of “he’s talking about himself. he’s talking about his presidential library… can you believe this…” at one point he uttered the F word, but nevermind.
What really got me was that somewhere in the speech Clinton said something like “the campaign is looking forward to going into super Tuesday when millions of people will vote…” and a woman sitting to the left of scarborough said “Millions of WHITE people.” Some of you who get the real MSNBC may be able to say who this woman is, but she wasn’t on camera, so I don’t know who it was. Anyway, people keep saying that the Clintons are playing the race card, but if they can’t even say they’re looking forward to millions of people voting on super Tuesday without being accused (by the media, at least) of racism, it seem like they’re damned if they do, damned if they don’t.

the media is determined to play the race card, bash the clintons, ignore edwards, and build up obama.
