Edwards debuts new attack ad in South Carolina

Edwards debuts new attack spot in South Carolina

Edwards has been going on the attack against the two Democratic frontrunners.

(CNN) — Within hours of one of the toughest primary season debates to date, John Edwards released a new ad in South Carolina that painted the two Democratic frontrunners as beholden to special interests. Edwards, who has yet to win a primary-season contest, is running a distant third in his birth state, behind Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

The ad features side-by-side shots of Clinton and Obama, as the announcer says: “One gets more money than anyone from drug companies. The other one takes more money than anyone from Washington lobbyists. What's happened to the Democratic Party? Whatever happened to the party of the people?”

“The only one who's never taken a dime from PACs or Washington lobbyists, who knows we've been ignored too long, who knows that rebuilding the middle class is more important than politics — our John Edwards. The only one.”

South Carolina’s Democratic voters head to the polls this Saturday, January 26.

2. Are these alligations true?
If so, how is this an "attack ad"? I thought an "attack ad" was when you implied things that weren't true. Do I have the definition wrong?

5. You are right
It's not an "attack" he is telling the truth. Anyone who thinks a candidate can get that kind of money from special interest groups, and not owe them something in the long run is crazy! All you have to do is look at Bush to see that!

3. Yes, but why does he think he has been ignored?
If you are in the "game" you just can't give your opponents all the advantages. Either get the rules changed or use them to you advantage. I don't want a President who is not smart enough to play the game and use the rules to his or her advantage. Until the campaign laws are changed, you are it the game to lose or to win. Edwards strategy seems like a losing game.
