A word about South Carolina that none of you may have considered.
Edited on Wed Jan-23-08 03:00 AM by calteacherguy
I was working on my phone lists for the California primary when something occured to me that I want to post here for the record. This will probably be the last thing I post here until after the California primary, because time is precious.

Obama's support in SC is being dismissed because it's heavily dependent on the support of African Americans. The theory goes, according to the Clintons and the media, that this will make him the "black candidate." Some say it already has. What if they are wrong?

What if, next Sunday morning, folks of all races and genders in the Feb. 5th states don't go along with the script? What if, in an historical moment like the one that occurred in Iowa, everyone, regardless of the color of their skin does buy the story the media and the Clinton's are assuming they will buy?

What if they buy quite a different story? A 21st century story that goes beyond our divisions of the past? What if next Sunday morning, there is not only a new dawn on this political race, but a new dawn across America? What if people see not, as the Clinton's and the media are assuming they will, a bunch of black folks voting for a black man, but rather a bunch of Americans, like themselves, voting for change. Americans. What if the spirit of Iowa reignites, and not just in Iowa?

When climbing the mountain of hope, one must always overcome doubt. One starts of with great hopes, that was Iowa. Now the doubt has set in, but the mountain top is still there. What if this Saturday, the people of South Carolina show America once and for all how to overcome our doubts and our fears, and believe in our own power as a people once more?

Has anyone considered that?

See ya all later....

I know there's a lot of negativity being thrown at both Senators, but really now...Obama is a bag of feces? I guess I'll just look on the bright side and be glad he isn't flaming...and on my doorstep. Here's to hoping people can calm down and remember what side we're all on.

33. False dichotomy
This is the part of Obama's campaign that I really don't care for - trying to make people feel that if they don't vote for him, they're racist.

People vote based on a candidates stand on issues and whether they're qualified for office. To brand everyone a racist if they don't support Obama is wrong.

I'm really getting tired of the negativity and divisiveness of Obama's campaign. It shows poor leadership.

8. They have in Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada
So I don't see why they wouldn't anywhere else.

http://www.iowacaucusresults.com/ & http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/primaries/results/county/#IADEM

http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/primaries/results/county/#NHDEM

http://www.nvdems08.com/ & http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/primaries/results/county/#NVDEM

Kind of hard to put up the numbers Obama has with just heavy support from African-Americans when we are talking about states like New Hampshire, Iowa and Nevada. I expect his message to continue to reach all Americans and be received favorable by the majority.

No way...I'm sure you can run a pure race, without any money, since we live in a country with publicly financed elections.

26. Yes. From the corporations and lobbyists who will expect something in return for it...
..once the candidate is in office.

It's called quid-pro-quo. Obama has been BOUGHT - just like Clinton has.

Deal with it. YOU didn't give him all that money. SO GUESS who he WON'T be listening to if he's elected?

Dur. Obama supporters are very skilled at overlooking the blazingly obvious, I see.

Carry on...

28. No, just on calling bullshit what it is. I worked for publicly financed
elections and will continue to, but until we have them, this trick is a lie.

The logical fallacy is translated into English as "If this, then because of this."

I am not a special interest. My lobbying group didn't donate, I donated. And millions of others did too.

I like John Edwards a lot, but your misleading attack is obnoxious and destructive. Adios.

14. Or maybe they'll reject sexism and the media/Obama trying to take her down as "The Clinton's".
Saying that it's "The Clinton's", "Billary", "Mrs. Clinton", putting the focus on him, saying he's running for co-president and whatever other garbage they can toss.

It was very low of Obama to say he didn't know who he was running against. His campaign is pushing this sexist story line that he's running against them both.

Is it any surprise that the media loves it too, or the prominent Dem men who have come running to Obama's side?

Not to this woman. Seen it all my life.

Whoop-tee-do.

I've been shocked that she's gotten this far, because I know most men in this country still will do everything they can to stop a woman from becoming president, and that inlcudes the media. I've been proud of the large numbers of women and enlightened men not taking it and coming out to vote for a woman they know is brilliant and a leader.
