What a joke-Bill Clinton was asked by a reporter if Obama's running against HIM or Hillary or both
of them, and he made it seem as if it was OBAMA who seemed to be running against HIM with his comment about the 90s...as if Bill didn't start the whole thing with his many comments about Obama. :eyes:

1. it's an amateur mistake
Obama took his eyes off the ball and is wasting valuable time, energy and resources having a fight with one of the Democrat Party's most popular figures. Hillary, in the meantime, continues to consolidate her lead in the Super Tuesday States and meet voters door-to-door, on-message and undistracted.

He should suck it up and focus on earning the voters' trust, not have a tit-for-tat (and continue to get media coverage of it) with Bill Clinton. It's not good Press.

6. in the General, no, respond effectively and quickly
in the Primary -- when one's resources aren't as great and one doesn't yet have the nomination -- then, yeah, it's an amateur mistake.

But I'm perfectly happy to watch Obama and his Keystone Cops Campaign Staff shadowbox Bill in SC while Hillary hits the Big States and focuses on what's important: consolidating her leads and locking in as many delegates as possible on Feb 5th.

41. Obama is Preacher material not Presidential Timber
unless he a sapling needing wind stakes until he matures. I've never heard such whimpering and whining coming from a candidate running for president, ever. John Edwards set the right tone last night. People aren't interested in Obama's problems. They're interested in "what can you do for me as my president?" Which is why I'm glad my candidate chose to address our faltering economy, ready with a proposal geared to economic stabilization and a solution to the mortgage crisis.

you can see Hillary's proposal here:

54. Often times it is good advice to ignore negative attacks. Don't think just because
the maxim didn't hold true for the Swiftboat campaign, that it's a universal truth now.

The Swiftboaters kept up a well-financed and steady campaign of very convincing lies, and the Kerry campaign couldn't have anticipated how it would make it into pupular discourse as much as it did.

A candidate that runs around answering every little comment or implication against him would look silly and ineffectual.

you know. After my husband's quadruple by-pass he needs much more rest. I'm sure Bill was exhausted. We tend to give him supernatural qualities. He is, after all, human. ***************************************************************************************************
(sorry, I don't know how to "quote" another post)

ABSOLUTELY and in addition to that:
While Barack and the media are busy going after Bill, Hillary can run unchecked and unchallenged and win the nomination. It is, so far, very effective. I know it will not work in the GE.

Remember their campaign in 92, all the comments Hillary made (ie: I don't see myself wasting time baking cookies, etc.) distracted the media focus to her and Bill won. He is now returning the favor. He is very good at fake outrage. If there was really voter intimidation in Vegas, why wouldn't the leader of the Democratic Party file a complaint? Who and where are those 8 voters? Just because Hillary won it is no big deal? hmmmm

The Obama camp better start campaigning against Hillary. Let one of Obama's aides (Or Michele - that would be best, Bill would not dare call out a woman supporting her husband) correct Bill, it will dismiss him as irrelevant.

53. GREAT and they now have a truth squad
So now Obama can forget about Bill and run against Hillary

Also check out this new site: http://factcheck.barackobama.com/

and the email tonight: (sorry, kinda long)

I support Barack Obama because he doesn't seek to perfect the politics of Swiftboating -- he seeks to end it.

This is personal for me, and for a whole lot of Americans who lived through the 2004 election.

As a veteran, it disgusts me that the Swift Boats we loved while we were in uniform on the Mekong Delta have been rendered, in Karl Rove's twisted politics, an ugly verb meaning to lie about someone's character just to win an election. But as someone who cares about winning this election and changing the country I love, I know it's not enough to complain about a past we can't change when our challenge is to win the future -- which is why we must stop the Swiftboating, stop the push-polling, stop the front groups, and stop the email chain smears.

The truth matters, but how you fight the lies matters even more. We must be determined never again to lose any election to a lie.

This year, the attacks are already starting. Some of you may have heard about the disgusting lies about Barack Obama that are being circulated by email. These attacks smear Barack's Christian faith and deep patriotism, and they distort his record of more than two decades of public service. They are nothing short of "Swiftboat" style anonymous attacks.

These are the same tactics the right has used again and again, and as we've learned, these attacks, no matter how bogus, can spread and take root if they go unchecked.

But not this time -- we're fighting back.

And when I say "we," I mean that literally. I know Barack is committed to fighting every smear every time. He'll fight hard and stand up for the truth. But he can't do it alone.

We need you to email the truth to your address books. Print it out and post it at work. Talk to your neighbors. Call your local radio station. Write a letter to the editor. If lies can be spread virally, let's prove to the cynics that the truth can be every bit as persuasive as it is powerful.

The Obama campaign has created a place where you can find the truth you'll need to push back on these smears and a way to spread the truth to all of your address book.

Take action here:

http://my.barackobama.com/factcheckaction

So when your inbox fills up with trash and the emails of smear and fear, find the facts, and help defeat the lies.

Barack Obama is committed to bringing our country together to meet the challenges we face, but he knows that power gives up nothing without a struggle -- and to win the chance to change America, we must first defeat the hateful tactics that have been used to tear us apart for too long.

With your help, we can turn the page on an era of small, divisive politics -- but only if next time you hear these attacks on Barack, you take action immediately:

http://my.barackobama.com/factcheckaction

The fight is just heating up -- we won't let them steal this election with lies and distortions.

Thank you,

John Kerry
